The Anduril Chromatic + Porta Pro bundle retailed for $350 and restocked once
Preorders are currently listed on eBay for upwards of $1,000
Palmer Luckey confirmed this run is final, citing the difficulty of manufacturing each unit by hand
If someone told you back in December that a limited edition Game Boy collab with a defense contractor was going to be one of the cleanest reseller wins of early 2026, you might have raised an eyebrow. But here we are. The Anduril x ModRetro Chromatic bundle sold out twice, generated national press coverage, and is now trading at nearly three times retail on the secondary market, with units not even shipping until this summer.
The Anduril Edition Chromatic takes the base Chromatic hardware and puts it through a military-grade finishing process. Each unit is coated in Cerakote, the ceramic-polymer finish used on Anduril’s Ghost autonomous air vehicle. The screws are treated with titanium nitride through vapor deposition. The screen cover is lab-grown sapphire crystal. Every six sides of the device are laser-etched and CNC-grooved.
The package also includes Anduril-branded Koss Porta Pro headphones, a logo charm, a Tetris cartridge, and collector’s packaging. The whole thing retailed for $350 with a summer 2026 ship date.
The initial batch was available through ModRetro’s website and AndurilGear.com. It sold out in roughly eight minutes. A second wave before Christmas gave resellers a second window. That wave is now gone too, with both storefronts sold out. Luckey has since confirmed the manufacturing difficulty makes another run extremely unlikely.
RC Elite members were alerted to this opportunity during the preorder window, and we also covered the release on our website while the bundles were still in stock. Anyone reading our coverage when we published it had a clear shot at picking one up with full return eligibility, meaning essentially zero risk before shipment.
Because these haven’t shipped yet (summer 2026 is the estimated timeline), current eBay activity reflects preorder slot transfers rather than completed deliveries. Listings are appearing at $1,000 and above, representing a premium of $650 or more over the $350 retail price.
After eBay’s 13% fee, a seller moving one at $1,000 clears roughly $520 in profit on a $350 outlay, good for about a 149% return. That’s before you’ve ever held the product.
Worth noting: because units haven’t shipped, buyers on the secondary market are purchasing the preorder commitment, not the physical item. The sale becomes final once ModRetro ships, per their policy. Sellers should be transparent about this in their listings.
Volume is also fairly light. If you secured one, making a listing now is prudent, but it make take a bit to find a buyer.
This one delivered. RC Elite members and anyone who caught our December coverage had a clean, low-risk window to buy with a full return option before shipment. Those people are now sitting on $500+ in potential profit before the product has even shipped.
If you’re looking to buy now, expect to pay a heavy premium with no returns on the secondary market. If you already have a preorder, hold and decide at shipment. This is a good piece of hardware in addition to a good flip, which tends to mean collector demand holds up long term.
