Jack in the Box’s glass Jack Sipper retailed for $25 at participating stores nationwide today
Stores reportedly received fewer than 50 cups each, and early asking prices are landing near $50
The cup directly parodies Starbucks’ viral Bearista, which has flipped for as much as $300
Jack in the Box started this whole thing as a joke. A clown faced glass cup wasn’t supposed to be a real product, it was supposed to be a meme aimed at Starbucks. Then the internet took it seriously, and now people actually lined up for one this morning. Nobody’s retiring off this flip, but for a 25 dollar buy in with almost no downside, the early numbers hold up just fine.
The Jack Sipper started as a bit. Jack in the Box posted a mock reveal on TikTok in June, handing out miniature glass Jack in the Box-themed cups to confused passersby.
The post was clearly meant as a joke about the Bearista craze that’s had resellers camping outside coffee shops for their chance at a payday. It blew up anyway, pulling in more than 37,000 likes and 22,000 shares, with fans flooding the comments demanding the chain actually make it.
@jackinthebox So… how thirsty are you for 7/2? 👀 Meet me at your local Jack in the Box on 7/2 to grab my Jack Sipper.
Jack in the Box listened. The chain confirmed the cup would be real just days after the joke post, and it hit Jack in the Box locations nationwide this morning for $25, with a buy one get one free Coca-Cola fountain drink offer thrown in through the app.
Supply was thin from the start. Individual locations reportedly received somewhere between 25 and 50 cups each.
Listings popped up on eBay within hours of the launch. Right now, Jack in the Box glass sippers are reselling pretty consistently for around $50. That’s not lifechanging, sure, but money is money.
A $25 to $50 flip is a fine day, but it’s nowhere close to what the Bearista pulled off. Starbucks built its collector base over multiple drops, and demand for those cups has been strong enough to push resale into the $150 to $300 range even months after launch. Jack in the Box doesn’t have that history yet.
Longer term, don’t expect this one to hold value the way the Bearista has. Limited run fast food collectibles tend to fade once the novelty passes and the next viral item takes its place.
If you missed this one, we’ve got another for you. Starbucks has confirmed a Pink Strawberry Bearista Glass Cold Cup launching at stores nationwide on July 13, with Starbucks Rewards Reserve members getting early access on July 9. Given how the last two Bearista drops performed, that one’s worth putting on your radar too.
