After four years, Gymshark has released their latest line of Onyx clothing
The Onyx V5 collection included tees, tanks, and shorts priced around $50
Almost everything is reselling for over $200
Earlier this month, sportwear manufacturer Gymshark released the latest iteration of their coveted Onyx line. New tees, tanks, and longsleeve gym shirts were sold as part of Gymshark’s Onyx V5 collection. These were a massive hit with heavy lifters and people who want to look like heavy lifters, and resellers have been there every step of the way. Now Onyx V5 clothing is reselling for up to five times over MSRP. Let’s get into it.
Quick question: what’s really important for maximizing gains? No, not technique (boring), diet (irrelevant), steroids (you’re getting warmer); what really matters is the clothes you wear while you lift.
Gymshark is the premier brand for those in search of aesthetics during their search for aesthetics. The UK-based brand has successfully leveraged social media hype and influencer word-of-mouth to generate considerable interest in their limited edition drops.
One of the most coveted Gymshark products is their “Onyx” line of sportswear. Ostensibly based on shark scales, Onyx shirts and tanks are designed with a “Superheroic structure & silhouette to look powerful af” and “Heavy duty compression you’ll feel stronger just for putting on.”
Gymshark Onyx clothes are released in limited batches. The last version was the V4 that released four years ago, so this month’s V5 release marked a rare opportunity for meatheads to blow paychecks on collectable sportswear.
Thirteen new products were available for the Onyx V5 drop; tanks, short and longsleeve tees were available in two colorways alongside pairs of compression socks, shorts, and a singlet. Most items were priced around $50.
Make no mistake, this collection was massively popular. After four years of waiting, Gymshark fans were absolutely frothing for their chance to pick up Onyx V5 clothes before they sold out.
Unfortunately for them, there weren’t nearly enough shirts and tanks to go around. When the collection went live on May 8, almost everything sold out in a few minutes.
But that’s great news for resellers. This drop was on our radar from the beginning, and a significant portion of the stock was picked up to be flipped on eBay. Right now, most Gymshark Onyx V5 clothes are reselling for around five times what they retailed for.
Missed out? Don’t expect to see a restock any time soon. We wouldn’t be surprised to see prices for Gymshark’s Onyx V5 collection continue to rise as FOMO kicks in and the available stock sells from eBay and Grailed.
