Key Points

  • Divorced Dads is an independent TCG that’s gaining popularity

  • Certain cards have flipped for over $2,000

  • Limited edition cards are dropping today

Pick up your beer and suck in your gut; the Age of Alimony is upon us and it’s time to fight for custody. Divorced Dads is an up and coming TCG for your balder-than-average tabletop gamer. What might have started out as a joke has become a fully playable and collectable trading card game, and now rare cards like “The House” and “Alimony the World Ender” are reselling for hundreds, even thousands of dollars online. The game celebrates its (official) one year anniversary this week, and new cards are dropping in less than an hour. Here’s what you need to know.

What is Divorced Dads TCG?

Time for a little exposition. Back in 2023, Graeme Barrett AKA AudioOpera posted a short skit opening a pack of “Divorced Dads” trading cards. It was an obvious rip on the trading card craze at the time, and showed Barrett trying (and failing) to pull The House.

The video went viral, and as of this publication it remains Barrett’s second-most popular video on YouTube with over 7 million views.

He’d follow up the joke with a few other Divorced Dads videos that continued to rack up views. Among the thousands of comments and replies, it became clear that a lot of people were actually interested in Divorced Dads.

Divorced Dads Real Card Game

After selling a few small runs of custom made cards, it was time to take things to the next level.

Barrett launched Divorced Dads: Court of Chaos on March 27, 2024 as a fully playable card game (read the rules here). The base set included 44 different cards like “CPAP Machine” and “Child Support” alongside booster packs with an additional 44 cards and holos.

Divorced Dads The House Card

One of the rarest Divorced Dads trading cards is “The House.” Holographic versions were limited to just 50 cards and individually serialized. These were only available at the game’s launch and Barrett has confirmed that holographic “The House” cards will never restock, making them extremely collectable.

Consequently, Divorced Dads “The House” cards have become increasingly valuable as the game has grown. We’ve seen them sell on eBay for more than $2,000.

Divorced Dads Age of Alimony

Later in 2024, Barrett launched the Age of Alimony expansion for Divorced Dads. With the money made from the initial orders, he was able to contract numerous artists to design the cards instead of relying on AI-generated art, and also filmed a promotional video.

Divorced Dads: Age of Alimony added 68 new cards from 25 different artists, many of which have professional experience illustrating for TCGs like Magic: The Gathering and Disney’s Lorcana.

The expansion also included a new run of serialized holos in the form of “Alimony the World Ender” which is split over multiple cards a la Exodia. Just 50 units were available of each body part and 250 for Alimony himself.

Divorced Dads Alimony the World Ender

Which brings us to today. This week marks the one year anniversary of Divorced Dads: Court of Chaos, and Barrett has prepared a new card drop to celebrate.

Three new serialized cards will be dropping on the Divorced Dads shop today, at 9 AM PDT. The cards will be limited to 1,500 total units (probably 500 per card), along with new sleeves and a Divorced Dads binder.

The drop information comes from a post by Graeme Barrett on Reddit, and that’s pretty much all we have to go on. Prices will likely be $20 to $30 per card, although this is speculation based on previous drops.

And that’s pretty much it. The drop goes live in less than an hour, and the Divorced Dads store page will be locked for 20 minutes prior to launch. We’ve already seen serialized cards flip for quadruple-digit profits, and this is your chance to pick up something rare for the game’s anniversary.

P.S. Love you Graeme
