Leaf sold 1,000 official cards signed by the Rizzler today
Each card was numbered and sold for $30
Resellers have started listing them for over $200
We’re entering a new era of trading card history. Leaf has teamed up with “America’s Favorite Rizzler” for an hyper-collectible line of autographed cards. To no one’s surprise, these sold out extremely quick. Now resellers are listing their cards on eBay for exorbitant prices. Will they restock? Will they resell? Let’s talk about it.
You’re familiar with the Rizzler, right? After being catapulted into viral fame alongside the “Costco Guys“, the Rizzler has enjoyed an incredible 2024. Appearances on national television, VIP seats during the Mets’ NLCS run, and now an official trading card.
These were produced by Leaf. We’ve talked about this company before, and they’re primarily known for their partnerships with… less traditional superstars like the Hawk Tuah Girl and Ben Johns. In other words, a perfect fit for everyone’s favorite TikTok child.
We were tracking this launch as soon as it went live. After pulling backend stock, it seems like Leaf produced about 1,000 Rizzler cards for $30 a piece.
Each features a prominent “Rizzler” auto in permanent marker, and they are randomly numbered out of 1,000. Leaf estimates the cards will start shipping in two to three weeks, so don’t get your hopes up for a Christmas delivery.
Probably not. Leaf has labeled this drop as “ultra limited”, and our own research indicates this was a one-and-done release.
Previous releases from Leaf have not restocked either. They prefer to produce a single limited run, upfront. If the cards do well, they might produce an alternate run to cash in. If you missed out on today’s drop, your only option is to buy from a reseller.
Speaking of which, how is the market looking for these cards? It’s been a few hours since they sold out, and resellers are already listing their grails for some pretty steep asking prices.
To be clear, nothing has actually sold yet. We’re tracking the average listing at around $175, which is pretty typical immediately following the release. Sellers will list high to test the market, and prices will likely drop if collectors aren’t willing to bite.
So realistically, what are these worth? At the end of the day, whatever collectors are willing to pay. Seriously, we’ve seen people pay hundreds of dollars for dumber stuff.
The Hawk Tuah autos we mentioned earlier are a perfect example. We covered these after release, and they sold out in about the same time as the Rizzler cards. It took some time for them to start moving, but we have seen scattered sales for more than $150 at a time.
You could argue that Haliey Welch has made a larger cultural impact than the Rizzler, but at that point we’d be getting into advanced memetics. 2024 has been a weird, stupid year in a weird, stupid decade, so anything is on the table.
Let’s put it this way: you missed your chance to buy these at $30, but it’s not too late to buy them for $200. When the oceans boil and the last drop of oil goes up in smoke, you can die proud with the Rizzler’s signature on your mantel.
