And when will we see them?

Key Points

  • GTA 6 preorders open at midnight local time tonight for Standard at $80 and Ultimate at $100

  • Both editions are entirely digital content with nothing physical for resellers to flip

  • Rockstar has given zero indication of a separate Collector’s Edition or physical bundle yet

Fans finally have the chance to preorder Grand Theft Auto VI, but there’s one piece of the collection missing. Rockstar still hasn’t revealed any details on GTA 6 Collector’s Editions, or even confirmed plans for a physical merch release. Based on their previous releases, we have a pretty good idea of what will happen now.

GTA 6 Preorder Details

Grand Theft Auto VI preorders open at midnight, June 25, locally. North America is pretty much the last market left to place their orders.

Standard editions run $80 and gets you the base game. Ultimate runs $100 and adds a stack of in-game vehicles, weapons, and cosmetics.

Both differences are purely digital, so neither edition matters to anyone planning to resell physical product. You can already preorder through the Rockstar Store, and PlayStation and Xbox storefronts will follow at midnight in each region. Additionally, Rockstar confirmed that there will be no physical editions of the game at launch.

That’s the whole announcement. No mention of a Collector’s Edition, no statue, no map, no metal box of trinkets, nothing physical at all beyond a code-in-a-box version of the standard release.

When do GTA 6 Collector's Editions Release?

Looking back at Rockstar’s most recent release, Red Dead Redemption 2, we can draw some conclusions about GTA 6 Collector’s Editions. Like GTA 6, RDR2 opened preorders several months in advance with multiple editions centered around in-game rewards.

They also sold Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector’s Boxes as a separate purchase. These included all the physical merch fans were expecting with a collector’s bundle, but did not come with a copy of the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector Edition

The one wrinkle is timing. RDR2’s Collector’s Box went up for preorder the same day as its other editions. Rockstar is choosing not to do that here, and it’s hard to find a version of this where the company simply walks away from millions of dollars in merch revenue on the biggest release of the decade.

Will GTA 6 Collector's Editions Have a Statue?

To put it simply, Rockstar has never put that much effort into collector’s editions for their games. Their focus has historically been on digital items to upsell gamers for an extra $20 or so. With standard editions already retailing for $80 and Ultimate editions sprinkling in some extra cars and clothes, it would appear Rockstar is sticking to their traditions.

As for what to expect from GTA 6 Collector’s Editions: keep your expectations tempered. Many fans are expecting a statue of the game’s protagonists, replicas of in-universe cars, or custom controllers. We’re expecting GTA 6 Collector’s Editions to be a little more modest, and probably most fans’ first disappointment with the game (but certainly not the last).

GTA 6 Collector's Edition Prices

Now that we know that GTA 6 Collector’s Bundles will be sold separately from copies of the game, we can provide a more accurate estimate of prices.

We expect GTA 6 Collector’s Editions to cost between $100 and $200. Obviously that’s a pretty wide range, but we until we have more details on the bundles’ contents, it’s as good as we can get.

How Resellers Should Approach This

There are basically three paths from here, and each one tells resellers something different.

Scenario 1: Rockstar reveals Collector’s Editions soon, possibly within the week, and opens preorders the normal way. This is the expected outcome and lines up with everything we said in our original GTA 6 Collector’s Edition breakdown last year. Treat it like any other major collector’s drop: solid demand, but probably printed to order in large enough numbers that resale margins stay modest rather than explosive.

Scenario 2: Rockstar holds preorders until closer to the November 19 launch instead of leaving them open for months like usual. This would be the bigger signal. A short preorder window usually means a publisher is keeping print runs genuinely tight rather than manufacturing to meet every order. If Rockstar also confirms a hard unit cap or numbered editions, that’s about as strong a green flag as you’ll see in this hobby.

Scenario 3: Rockstar skips a Collector’s Edition entirely. We think this is very unlikely given the scale of this release, but it’s not zero. Some publishers have moved away from physical bundles altogether in recent years.

Bottom Line

For now, there’s nothing to buy. The smart move is watching Rockstar’s official channels and being ready to move fast once something drops, since preorder windows on hyped collector’s items can close in minutes. Pay close attention to how Rockstar frames any reveal. A casual “preorder now, available through the holidays” tone points toward scenario one and a large run.

Language about limited quantities, numbered units, or preorders opening shortly before launch points toward scenario two, and that’s the one worth dropping everything for.

We’ll update the moment Rockstar reveals anything concrete on pricing, contents, or quantity.
