Harvey’s sold a line of Harry Potter inspired merch yesterday
The most popular was the Hogwarts Express Marilyn Satchel for $288
Resellers have flipped it for as much as $450
Take a break from election doomscrolling and check out what resellers have been up to this week. Harvey’s recently dropped their Harry Potter collection of handbags, and some of them have really popped off. After selling out online, resellers are now flipping their bags for tidy profits. There are still some items left in stock, and these bags make an ideal Christmas gift – or flip.
As resellers, we’ve had the pleasure of interacting with a lot of different fandoms. Swifties, Bratz collectors, Stanley tumbler stans, gamers, and Star Wars fans. You know who’s had it too easy? Harry Potter-obsessed adults.
Well, that changed this week. California-based bagmaker Harvey’s released their new line of Harry Potter handbags, and the Wizarding World turned out in force. Twelve different bags were produced, ranging from complex backpacks to simple totes.
There were also wallets, keychains, and decorative straps available at the same time. Prices started at $168 for the cheaper bags and up to $288 for the swankiest designs.
You might already be familiar with Harvey’s. We covered their Winnie the Pooh collection back in March, and the company has built a dedicated following with their unique handbags constructed from recycled seatbelt material.
The Harvey’s Harry Potter collection has been similarly popular, and after dropping online on November 4, several items sold out in under an hour. The most popular are the Marilyn Satchel Hogwarts Express bags.
These are the most expensive part of the collection, and many resellers were exclusively focused on them. Hedwig Berkeley backpacks and collectable Hogwarts keychains also sold out quickly.
With how fast some of these bags sold out, Harry Potter fans are hoping Harvey’s will be restocking the items they missed out on.
If you’re hoping for a restock, our advice is to sign up for stock alerts on Harvey’s website and cross your fingers. After a drop like this, there’s sometimes a wave of cancellations from people who changed their minds, and the cancelled stock will be added to the website in one batch.
These restocks are usually quite small, and go fast. We expect this will likely be the only time the Harvey’s Harry Potter collection will restock, so don’t miss your chance.
For those who managed to snag a bag, yesterday’s drop is coming out very profitable. Within 24 hours we began to see the collection trading on eBay, and the sales keep coming.
Right now, Harvey’s Harry Potter Marilyn Satchel bags are reselling for upwards of $400, while we’ve seen sales for some other bags for $50 to $100 over retail.
A couple hundred in profit for five minutes of clicking is a pretty good deal, at least in our book. And remember, only a few items from the collection have sold out so far. This is a limited edition opportunity, and once these bags sell out they’ll most likely be gone for good.
Are they worth buying? Remember that Harvey’s offers 30 day refunds for most of their products, and this collection is included. So, buying now and returning later if they fail to flip is an option.
But the fact they haven’t sold out by now is telling. They might flip, but this one might be worth taking a pass on. That’s fine, we’ll be covering tons of other flips in the next few weeks, so make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter and catch everything else worth reselling.
