The next South Park game releases on March 26
Collector’s Editions are $220
They’re sold out, and some have already resold
If you’re a fan of the South Park video games then we’ve got good news, because they’re making another. South Park: Snow Day is set to release this spring, and Collector’s Editions are now available for sale. At least, they were before they all sold out now. Now resellers have begun to list them at a markup, and a few have already sold. Let’s dive in.
Considering the absolutely wicked snowstorms hitting most of the U.S. over the last week, a “Snow Day” game seems pretty relevant right now.
South Park: Snow Day is an upcoming title coming to PC, consoles, and the Switch. It’s the third South Park video game for new consoles, and the first to include multiplayer.
Both “The Stick of Truth” and “The Fractured but Whole” were received well by gamers and fans of the show, and it’s been nearly seven years since the release of the last game. Understandably, there’s a fair bit of excitement ahead of its launch.
And like most big releases, South Park: Snow Day is getting a Collector’s Edition. It costs $220 and includes a copy of the game, a Cartman snow globe and beanie, some tarot cards, and the game’s soundtrack.
It also has quite possibly the funniest collectible ever included in a video game collector’s edition: a talking Cartman-shaped toilet paper holder.
As far as we can tell, this is completely usable.
South Park: Snow Day Collector’s Editions first started going up for sale in December, and they are currently sold out for all platforms. The game is set to launch on March 26, and Collector’s Editions are expected to ship around that time.
With the game’s launch still two months out, there’s still a lot of time for more collector’s editions to stock. Still, we’ve seen a handful of sales over the last few weeks.
The average price for a South Park: Snow Day Collector’s Edition looks to be around $300 on eBay. It’ll probably be a while until either sales volume or the average price starts going up. Still, sales this early is a good sign.
If you’ve read our other articles on video game collector’s editions, you’ll know that a game’s reception can have a massive impact on the aftermarket price for their collector’s editions.
Take Baldur’s Gate 3 for example. By now you’ve probably heard of it, and after it released in August 2023, it would become of the biggest games of the last decade.
Consequently, Collector’s Editions for Baldur’s Gate 3 went through the roof. At their peak, they were reselling for upwards of $2,000. For the resellers that got in early, they were able to turn a couple hundred bucks into thousands over about a month.
Now, this South Park game is probably not going to be as big as Baldur’s Gate 3. You never know, of course, but the point we’re trying to make is that you’ll want to pay attention to reviews. A positive reception does wonders for a game’s resale value, and collector’s editions will inflate the most.
Keep a lookout for restocks of South Park: Snow Day Collector’s Edition. Usually video game collector’s editions are in stock for a long period before launch and then restock a handful of times after selling out.
