Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition

The collector’s edition of Baldur’s Gate 3 includes a digital copy of the game, the Mind Flayer vs. Draw battle diorama, an art book, cloth map, metal tadpole keyring, an engraved d20, and a number of other rare physical and digital goodies.

This is looking like one of the best years for video games in quite a while. Gamers have received treat after treat through 2023, and some of the year’s biggest releases are still to come. Baldur’s Gate III got its official launch yesterday after three years in early access, and early reviews are looking good. In what has become a bit of a trend lately, Collector’s Editions for Baldur’s Gate III have since surged in value, and are now reselling for significantly over what they retail for.

What's in Baldur's Gate 3 Collector's Edition?

Well, it’s been a while, but Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally out of early access. The full version of the game launched yesterday, August 3, exclusively for PC. PlayStation and Mac players are expected to get their hands on the game in September. Returning fans and new players are now eagerly diving into the game, which is currently sitting at the top of Steam’s best sellers list.

As is typically the case with AAA releases, Baldur’s Gate 3 shipped with a collector’s edition. Included is a code for the game and various DLC items, physical artbook, sticker pack, character sheets, cloth map of the game world, tadpole keyring, oversized metal D20, three MTG booster packs, and a ten inch tall diorama of a Mindflayer battling a Drow. Woof.

Statues, sculptures, and figurines are popular offerings lately for collector’s editions, and they tend to be what sells the set as a whole. For Baldur’s Gate 3, the statue in question is pretty cool. It’s a diorama featuring a squid-like Mindflayer psionically battling a Drow figure from the game, rendered in remarkable detail.

All together, Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Editions are actually pretty robust. In our coverage for other video game collector’s editions like Armored Core 6, we’ve noted that the offerings tend to feel a little sparse, and many publishers are opting to turn some of the premium collectables like artbooks and soundtracks into digital versions.

Larian has opted to go the other direction, and packed a ton of neat items into these boxes, including a physical artbook. It makes a pretty compelling package for a fan of the game or D&D in general, and we’re not surprised the collector’s editions are resonating with fans.

Baldur's Gate 3 Physical Collector's Edition Price

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition costs $270, and is available for either PlayStation 5 consoles or PC. That’s a bit higher than the average price of a collector’s edition, but not by much. It’s up to the individual gamer to determine what they think is worth paying, but the content included is plentiful.

Additionally, these copies were on the market for quite a long time. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in early access since October 2020, and collector’s editions were first sold in December of 2022. For the last few months, they’ve been in stock and easy to buy. It wasn’t until the lead-up period to the game’s full launch that they’ve begun to sell out.

It’s still possible to catch a restock of a Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition, but you’ll need to be fast. Restocks are pretty uncommon and in limited numbers, and sell out fast. If you have the opportunity to buy a copy though, we recommend jumping on it, because they are reselling for a significant premium.

Baldur's Gate 3 Collector's Editions Blow Up

Now that the game is finally out and fans are free to explore it in its entirety, demand for Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Editions is booming. We’ve seen a decent amount of sales in the months leading up to launch, but both the number of sales and the price they’re going for has sharply risen in the last two weeks.

Right now, Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Editions are reselling for upwards of $1,000, with several sales in late July approaching $1,500. How’s that for demand. Prior to launch, the average aftermarket price was around $600, so this is a situation where holding ended up being quite profitable.

As far as video game collector’s editions go, Baldur’s Gate 3 is looking to be one of the most lucrative titles in the last few years. Many resellers have been turned off of collector’s editions lately because of their potential risk, but from what we’ve seen for games like Final Fantasy XVI and Starfield, the market is pretty strong.

Whether it’s the overall quality of the included items, their variety, or simply the popularity of the game, Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Editions have thus far been a huge win for resellers. Keep an eye out for future restocks of this game. Early reviews for Baldur’s Gate 3 are looking positive, and collector’s editions are likely to continue to trend upward if the game is well received.
