Metro fans have been waiting since 2019 for a new mainline entry, and that wait is nearly over. Deep Silver just gave the first look at the Metro 2039 Collector’s Edition, and the standout piece is something the series has never offered before: a scale replica of the game’s iconic Spartan helmet. Collector’s editions from smaller studios like this one tend to ship in far tighter numbers than anything from a major publisher, and the last time Metro tried this, secondary market prices climbed well past retail.

Deep Silver revealed the collector’s edition this week, and the centerpiece is a scale replica of the Spartan helmet worn by the game’s protagonist, referred to in the reveal only as the Stranger. It’s built from the character’s in-game 3D model, damage, scratches, and all. This is the first time a Metro collector’s edition has included a physical replica like this.

Metro 2039 is the first mainline entry since 2019’s Metro Exodus, and only the second Metro title to get a collector’s edition after Exodus. Limited editions from smaller developers like 4A Games typically ship in much smaller numbers than anything from a major AAA studio, and that scarcity tends to translate directly into demand once a title is out of print.

The best comparison point is Metro Exodus, which got its own collector’s edition in 2019. These are so rare that only one listing is currently active on eBay at $800.

The last two confirmed sales were recorded in July and June, selling for $717 and $650 respectively. Metro Exodus Collector’s Editions retailed for $150 back in 2019, representing profits of $500 or more for resellers.

Obviously holding a product to resell it in seven years is not ideal and not something we usually advocate for. We’re just using this as an example to show a) how rare and underproduced previous Metro Collector’s Editions are and b) how devoted Metro fans are, and their willingness to pay for these limited editions.

Deep Silver hasn’t announced a price, release date, or production count, and pre-orders aren’t expected to open until later this year. The best move right now is to register your interest with Deep Silver, which also enters you into a giveaway for a free Collector’s Edition on release day.

Since the pre-order window hasn’t opened, there’s no return policy or final sale language to evaluate yet. That will matter once pricing drops, especially given how small these runs tend to be.
