Pepsi is releasing a limited edition pineapple flavor this summer
You can start lining up at a Little Caesar’s for a can tomorrow, July 17
Resellers are already listing Pineapple Pepsi cans for sale for $20+
Fans of sugary soda are in for a treat tomorrow. Pepsi has announced a limited run of a specially flavored cola: Pineapple (or is it Pepsi Pineapple?) The drink is sure to light a fire under soda aficionados, collectors, and the obese across the country. We’ve seen in the past how limited edition flavors can resell for over retail, so now’s your chance to take advantage of the trend. Here’s what you need to know.
Quick question, how do you feel about pineapple on pizza? This is a fairly divisive question that seems to get people upset, despite around 60 years of debate. Pepsi has elected to capitalize on the issue by announcing a new collaboration with Little Caesar’s. For a limited time this summer, you can pick up a large two-topping pizza and a 16oz Pineapple Pepsi for $10.
This isn’t the first time the flavor has been produced, believe it or not. Summer 2020 also featured a limited edition tropical Pepsi blend, which included pineapple. The new cans ramp that flavor up to the max, and now it’s the highlight of the drink.
The 2023 cans (left) feature a new design
The only way to buy a can of Pineapple Pepsi is to head down to your local Little Caesar’s and pick one up. While it hasn’t been explicitly stated, it’s likely that you can buy the cans a la carte. Considering the flak Little Caesar’s pizza has gotten in recent years, that’s probably for the best.
While the drinks are probably tasty, we’re more interested in what they resell for. If you read our previous article on the Maple Syrup Pepsi release, you’d know exactly how much people will pay for a can of limited edition soda. Pineapple Pepsi is shaping up to go much the same way. Actually, some folks have already listed cans for “preorder”, and are making sales.
If you didn’t know, eBay permits sellers to make presale/preorder listings, even for products that don’t have official preorders. In the case of Pineapple Pepsi, that just means making an eBay listing for a product that you don’t have in hand, and buying a can when it hits stores.
One thing you learn as a reseller is that people are lazy. Lazy and slow. Lazy and slow and have too much money for their own good. That means they’ll pay $25 for a can of soda from a reseller rather than going to get one on their own. We say that because that’s exactly what’s happening with Pineapple Pepsi right now.
Nice! Thank you consumerism!
