The Pokemon Red & Blue Game Music Collection: Game Boy Jukebox is a palm-sized replica of the original Nintendo Game Boy, reduced to about one-third its actual size. The screen and buttons are decorative, but the cartridge slot is functional in the sense that each of the 45 included mini-carts plays a specific song or sound effect from the Kanto games when inserted.

Series composer Junichi Masuda was involved in the project and specifically noted the audio was tuned to replicate the original Game Boy sound. The cartridges also feature screenshots from the games, so when one is slotted in, it looks like the corresponding scene is playing on the device.

The jukebox sold out on the Pokemon Center during the initial frenzy following the Pokemon Presents announcement. eBay listings are currently ranging from $150 to $200 for sold units, with some listings sitting higher.

At $69.99 retail, resellers who copped one are looking at roughly $60 to $100 in profit after eBay’s 13% fees, depending on where they sell. That works out to somewhere between an 85% and 140% return on a single unit.

Not life-changing money, but for a product you could have ordered in under five minutes from your couch this morning, it is a solid flip. These were limited to one per customer.

Three things lined up cleanly here. First, this dropped on Pokemon Day, which is as close to a guaranteed hype event as the franchise produces. Millions of people were already watching the Pokemon Presents stream when the jukebox was announced. Second, the product itself is genuinely appealing to a broad audience, not just hardcore collectors. Anyone who grew up playing Red or Blue has a nostalgic connection to that soundtrack, and the presentation is legitimately cool. Third, it was exclusive to the Pokemon Center with no announced restock, which creates immediate scarcity pressure.

Pokemon Center exclusives with nostalgic appeal have a reliable track record on the secondary market, and this one checked every box.

Long term, this has reasonable staying power as a display piece and collector’s item tied to Pokemon’s 30th anniversary. It is not grail-level, but anniversary items from major franchises tend to hold modest premiums over retail for years. Holding is reasonable if you are a collector. Flipping now while the launch-day premium is intact is the smarter play if you are purely in it for the money.

The Pokemon Center’s standard return policy applies, so buyers who picked one up and are on the fence have a 30-day window to decide.
