Roomba J5 Combo Vacuums were sold for $100 on Woot
Resellers are flipping them for up to $200
These are still profitable when sold below the $530 MSRP
How would you like to make a nice profit and connect a buyer with the product they want at a low price? Resellers had that chance earlier this week by taking advantage of Woot’s daily deal. iRobot Roomba vacuums were marked down to a fifth of their MSRP, and generous quantity limits meant resellers could pick up more than enough to go around. By flipping them for below retail, the potential profits stacked up very quickly. Let’s get into it.
You remember Woot, right? If you were an active internet user in the 2000s, you’re probably familiar with the half-deals, half-joke aggregator. The premise behind the site was a new product was put up for sale every day at seriously deep discount.
Woot’s heyday was in the late 2000s, and saw reduced usage and profits after being acquired by Amazon. Still, the site is still around and posting deals on a regular basis. On Saturday, June 7, Woot listed iRobot Roomba J517020 robot vacuums for sale.
These were marked down to just $100, an 81% reduction from their listed MSRP of $530. Better yet, customers could buy up to three of them in a single order. This was a great deal, and very popular, so we weren’t surprised to see them sell out fast.
It’s worth noting that these vacuums are from a previous generation, but still very popular. In addition to their function as an automatic vacuum, they can also mop hard surfaces.
After all, vacuuming sucks! Why not have a robot do it for you? Like we said, this was a great deal, and the available stock sold out fast.
Many of them made their way into the hands of resellers that now had a unique opportunity. By flipping their Roombas for below the listed MSRP, they could make some nice profits and farm positive eBay feedback. Right now these Roomba J5s are reselling for up to $200
If you bought three Roombas and flipped them for the optimal price, that’s a potential profit of up to $300 for a single flip. Better yet, your buyers will be getting a great deal which will help your seller rating in the long run. Talk about win-win.
While we usually cover products that resell for more than their MSRP, we’re always on the lookout for unconventional flips. Make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter if you want to catch the next one.
