What's up with the Panera Bag?

Officially the Panera BAGuette, this limited promo attracted quite a stir went it went up for sale early February.

To promote their new toasted baguette sandwiches, Panera tweeted out a link to buy one of the bags, and fans quickly converged on the sale. The initial sale was limited to three BAGuettes per order at $40 per bag. By mid-afternoon, they were sold out.

While the Panera Bag has a fairly upscale appearance, it is made from polyurethane with a polyester interior webbing. Panera also notes that it’s the exact size to tote one of their new footlong sandwiches. While that may be the case, it’s also a perfectly suitable handbag, especially for a dedicated Panera fan. The striking green and repeating “P” across the bag are evocative of Panera’s branding, while being subtle enough to not be an eyesore.

Within a day, numerous TikToks went up obsessing over the Panera Bag. Not letting the opportunity pass them by, Panera posted a video to their official Instagram, hyping the product further.

The Panera Bag restocked on February 9. While prices remained at $40, the bags were now limited to one per customer. Despite this limit, the Panera Bags sold out in under thirty minutes.

With supplies sold at out retail, the Panera Bags are now reselling on eBay. The average resale price is hovering between $150-$200, with no signs of it slowing down soon.
