Scary Movie 6's Bong Popcorn Bucket: Here's What We Know

The Scary Movie 6 Instagram account posted promotional images of a globe-bottomed glass vessel packed with popcorn, complete with a long vertical tube, a side stem, and smoke billowing around it for effect.

A follow-up image showed four distinct sizes lined up together. From the teaser videos, the design appears to be an actual glass water pipe rather than cheap plastic novelty merchandise, though the studio has not confirmed anything about production.

Scary Movie 6 hits theaters June 5, reuniting the original Core Four for the first time since 2001. The broader campaign has leaned hard into cannabis culture: Paramount separately confirmed a collaboration with PAX on a limited-edition Scary Movie vaporizer, available on pax.com while supplies last.

Distributing glassware through theater concession stands is a logistical challenge on a scale that plastic novelty buckets don’t come close to. If the bucket does get produced, it would more likely come as a limited online merch drop than a concession stand item. No pricing has been announced. If the finished product matches the teasers, a price floor of $50 or more would be a reasonable guess, though that’s speculation on our end.

One thing we do know for certain: these Scary Movie 6 bong popcorn buckets will flip for a considerable profit, if they’re real. When a design gets attention online, it doesn’t take long for it to start reselling for two to three times over what it retailed for. Even the world’s smallest popcorn bucket was flipping for up to $50 last month.

Here’s our opinion, based on years of covering collectable popcorn buckets: there are three likely outcomes to this promotion.

1) The buckets aren’t real and were never intended to be sold. After seeing how much attention they get online, a small number are produced and sold/given away at select locations ahead of the premiere. Hard to obtain but very lucrative to resell.

2) The buckets aren’t real and not economical to produce. Shitty plastic knockoff versions are spun up to be sold at theaters. They’ll probably still resell for a profit, but nowhere near what the glass versions would be worth.

3) The buckets are real and are sold in limited numbers at theaters. Producing and distributing glassware at scale is not easy or cheap, and these will probably be pretty hard to find. Expect them to start around $50, and flip for double that (or more.)

This is a watch-and-wait situation. The bong bucket may be real, it may be marketing theater, or it may end up as a very limited merch drop nobody hears about until after it sells out.
