Trump Mugshot Newspapers Shoot Up to $200 on eBay

So first, a quick timeline recap. Trump gets indicted for the fourth time in August 2023, this time for racketeering and attempting to overturn the 2020 election. Unlike his previous indictments, he actually had a mugshot taken by the police that was released to the public.

Americans on both side of the aisle seized the moment and spread the image online. Trump himself is quite proud of it, quickly churning out merch through his official stores and using it as inspiration for his official inaugural photograph.

Of course, newspapers across the world were quick to run with the image. Almost every major paper had Trump’s mugshot plastered on the cover on the morning of August 25, and we saw the opportunity.

We had covered previous collectable newspapers, and recognized that the first presidential mugshot had profit written all over it. We urged all of our readers to hit the streets and begin stocking up on the papers while they could. For a few bucks, you could walk away with one one of the most iconic newspapers ever printed.

Well, hopefully you followed that advice, and hopefully you decided to stash a few papers for the future. In the immediate weeks after the mugshot’s release these papers were flipping for up to $50 at a time, but things have gotten much better following the inauguration.

In February, the average price of a Trump mugshot newspaper on eBay has risen to over $200. We’re guessing the tumultuous last few weeks have gotten Trump’s biggest haters pretty frothy, and they’ve reached into their wallets to really stick it to him

Whether it’s furious libs stockpiling the newspapers for their inevitable “I told you so” parties or MAGA monkeys buying them for their mancaves (and to own the aforementioned libs), we don’t know.

It does seem like the surge in price might be fueled by reporting that Trump has a framed copy of the New York Post cover hung outside the Oval Office, and was proudly showing it off to Netanyahu during his February visit.

What we do know is that these newspapers are valuable and collectable, just like we predicted. If you still have some left, now might be a good time to sell.

Or you could just wait until the next scandal or assassination attempt, successful or otherwise. Maybe you should stuff a box with them and hide it in the attic for your grandkids to find.
