TRUFF's Darth Vader Hot Sauce is One Spicy Flip

As we all know, a meal isn’t complete without a smattering of hot sauce. Wings? Obviously. Pizza? Must have. Cake and ice cream? You don’t need to ask. TRUFF recently launched new Star Wars-themed bottles of their signature hot sauce. These have proven so popular that the company immediately sold out of everything they had. Now resellers are flipping them for double what they retailed for.

So first, let’s talk a bit about TRUFF. We’ve covered some of their products in the past, including a highly-prized collab with Hidden Valley Ranch.

TRUFF is a bespoke and übermarketed brand of truffle-infused hot sauces. Their bottles are pretty fancy, and feature distinctive multifaceted caps made to resemble a truffle.

Since 2017, the company has continuously grown and picked up attention through word-of-mouth and clever marketing. Several major collaborations like their Hidden Valley sauce have boosted their popularity, and they operate as a sort of collectable condiment.

Many of their products are limited productions that are only available for a short period. Aside from the fancy packaging and hype, there’s a pretty tasty blend of flavors contained in each product.

Earlier this week, TRUFF spun up a brand new, Star Wars-themed bottle. Behold, TRUFF’s “Dark Side” sauce.

Ghost peppers meet black truffles, red meets black, ass meets toilet seat; passion and pain abound in equal volumes. Between TRUFF’s promotional images of lava and fire and a Scoville heat rating of nearly 1,000,000, this seems like a serious tongue-tickler.

When these launched on April 24, they were only available through a password-protected portal. Interest was so strong that IGN quickly sold out of their available bottles in less than an hour.

TRUFF Dark Side Hot Sauce Resells

And when we have a sold out product, we have an opportunity. Like many of TRUFF’s previous limited-time offerings, these bottles of Darth Vader picked up viral popularity that ended up driving sales.

After they sold out on Wednesday, resellers began listing bottles of TRUFF Darth Vader sauce at pretty inflated prices. Right now they’re reselling for around $80.

Or at least they were until TRUFF restocked the bottles. Like we said, these are available for sale right now, so the flip has cooled off for now at least.

Will they sell out again? Will they become highly coveted artifacts for hot sauce collectors? Maybe, probably not. We’ll be keeping our eyes on them in the near future. If you’re curious, why not order a bottle to try?
