Topps Chrome Veefriends Hobby Box released last week via raffle
They retailed at $140 and are currently flipping on eBay for over $400
You might still be able to find booster packs at local retailers like Gamestop
The NFT market might’ve cooled down, but the market for collectibles certainly hasn’t. Gary Vee has been hard at work launching brands and making money, with his latest collaboration Topps serving as a prime example. Resellers were all over this drop, and it’s not too late for you to join the fun.
If you’ve been paying attention, you know trading cards have been some of the best flips of 2025. While there’s been a ton of attention on Pokemon with recent sets like Prismatic Evolutions and Destined Rivals selling consistently for double MSRP, Topps collaborations have been doing strong numbers as well.
The limited edition Topps Chrome Wrestlemania 41 x Cactus Jack collaboration from last month have sold for 3x retail, and Topps Finest X-men cards from earlier this year have also sold for about double.
Now Topps has partnered up with Gary Vaynerchuk to release the first Topps Chrome Veefriends trading card collection, and it is already doing big numbers. The Veefriends Hobby Box dropped via raffle on May 7th for $140, and are currently selling on eBay for ~$450.
Gary Vaynerchuk has always been a strong advocate of reselling practices and the culture as a whole. He became well known for his somewhat preachy but effective leveraging of that culture, timely media attention, early technological adaptation, and empathy for your fellow man; something the world may be lacking today.
There’s something to be admired about the billionaire that came from an immigrant family, worked at his father’s liquor store well into his adult life, and then flipped that business into a multi million dollar platform on which he built a media empire.
It goes to show that Gary Vaynerchuk truly understood how to bring value to everyone that interacted with his content and products. If he didn’t, he probably would not have been able to flip his napkin doodles into a brand that generated hundreds of millions in revenue through tangible and digital collectibles. Today the Veefriends umbrella delivers merchandise and apparel, collectible toys and trading cards, and real life events where you can meet the man himself.
The Topps Chrome Veefriends trading card set is actually the 3rd rendition of these collectibles. Veefriends Series 1 trading cards released in March 2022, and were the first real life integration of Veefriends NFTs, which we’ll discuss in a moment.
This base set including all 268 Veefriends in their most original, doodle forms, sold as a blind Dutch auction in collaboration with Zerocool, a fanatics trading card brand. The Veefriends x Zerocool collaboration released only 800 boxes total, and the cheapest box sold was $2,150. They are still selling on eBay for ~$6000 each. You can check out the full set list here.
The second rendition of Veefriends trading cards came shortly after the first had been released in 2022. Veefriends Series 2 was the “Compete and Collect” series which gave the collectible doodles a more animated version and their very own competitive TCG. They were significantly more available than the first, but still profitable for resellers.
Veefriends Series 2 trading cards were made available exclusively to Veefriends Series 2 NFT holders. Series 2 NFTs were available for free to all Series 1 holders, and an additional 10,000 series 2 NFTs were sold to the public. The Compete & Collect box retailed at $85 and are selling now for over $300.
Veefriends NFTs launched in 2021 when users were first discovering the technology and its potential utility. The collection of more than 250 characters was essentially just a collection of doodles by Gary Vaynerchuk that he assigned intrinsic value to.
This goes to show that NFTs were not about art or design, but really about the value assigned to the individual asset. There have been tons of collections that launched, sold for multi millions, and eventually fizzled out, bringing basically no value to their holders.
NFTs got a negative rap after all the manipulative tactics and empty promises came to light. Bored Ape Yacht Club, arguably the most popular NFT project at the time, had backing from celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Stephen Curry, but in the end served as little more than an expensive badge of “nobility” in the community.
Veefriends are one of the few NFTs that are still bringing value to holders today in the form of engaging events and tangible collectibles. They are currently available to buy on OpenSea holding a floor price of ~1.4 ETH (~$3500 USD). The NFTs allow holders to collect tangible goods as well as attend annual events like Veecon, and annual mentorship sessions with Gary Vaynerchuk himself. You can read more about the utility of Veefriends NFTs and how to cash them in here.
Topps Chrome Veefriends set can be found at Gamestops nationwide, as well as several local retailers. Check this store locator to see if you can find some near you! You might still find Series 1 and 2 in the wild, but you will be paying resale price at this point.
It seems like every new release with any hype behind it is selling for at least double MSRP with very high volume. Stores can’t keep them in stock, and neither can resellers. Do yourself a favor and sign up for our newsletter below so you don’t miss the next easy flip.
