Oreo and Selena Gomez have teamed up for a new collab
Six cookie variants will be dropping online June 2, in stores June 9
Similar limited edition foods have flipped in the past
Selena Gomez fans and crossword lovers have a chance to pick up their favorite cookie with a limited edition flavor. The collaboration was revealed earlier this week, with a line of exclusive designs and rare variants. We’ve seen limited edition foods resell before, and this seems like a slam dunk with a major celebrity adding her autograph into the mix. Let’s get into it.
It must be fun to be a celebrity. Once you reach a certain level of fame, you can just sit around your house all day getting high, throwing things at your housekeepers, and signing brand deals.
Selena Gomez clearly has at least one part of this formula locked down, because she’s announced an upcoming collaboration with Oreo. Starting in June, fans will be able to pick up limited edition Selena Gomez Oreos in stores and online.
The collaboration features a unique flavor inspired by Gomez’ love of horchata, described as a blend of chocolate and cinnamon, condensed milk flavor, and cinnamon sugar. The cookies themselves are embossed with six different designs.
One of these features a replica of Selena Gomez autograph, making these the first ever “signed” Oreos. Selena Gomez signed Oreos are rarer than the other variants; only 1 in 3 packs will include one.
Selena Gomez Oreos are expected to launch on June 2 through Oreo’s website, which is billed as a “limited edition presale”. Following online sales, the cookies will roll out at select retailers on June 9 and will be available only as long as supplies last. No price is confirmed, but based on the packaging we’re guessing Selena Gomez Oreos will cost around $5 for a 12-pack.
So, why should you care? While Selenators are looking forward to unironically spiking their blood sugar, resellers are interested for entirely different reasons.
There’s actually a pretty decent market for limited edition, collectable foods like these. We’ve covered a ton over the last few months, from Mustard Skittles to Sour Patch Kids Oreos to Goldfish’s bizarre collab with Boban Marjanović. All of these have flipped for two, three, even ten times over their retail prices.
With Selena adding her name, creativity, and signature to these Oreos, it seems like a pretty clear winner for resellers. Selena Gomez fans have no issue shelling out for the right merch, as we’ve seen before.
So mark your calendars and get ready to resell Selena Gomez Oreos. Online sales begin June 2, and the packs are expected to hit shelves on June 9. Stay tuned for more details.
