Sabrina Carpenter was signing vinyl versions of “Man’s Best Friend” this week
They were sold in person exclusively at Supervinyl LA
Resellers are flipping them for around $300
There’s nothing like an artist’s signature to make a record fly on eBay. To celebrate the release of her latest album “Man’s Best Friend”, Sabrina Carpenter held a limited signing at Supervinyl in LA. The signed records went up for sale yesterday with a long line stretching out the door. Resellers that got their hands on a coveted copy are now hawking them for up to $300 at a time. This was a rare opportunity to snag a valuable autograph, and the profits speak for themselves.
So, what’s on your shelf? While most of us have switched to streaming at this point, vinyl has had a major resurgence in the last few years. Even if people are just buying records to collect them, it’s become a highly profitable source of revenue for labels and resellers alike.
Sabrina Carpenter just dropped her seventh studio album “Man’s Best Friend” ahead of the weekend, and she worked with Supervinyl to produce a special celebration for her fans.
A limited number of “Man’s Best Friend” vinyl records were hand-signed by Sabrina Carpenter ahead of the album’s release and distributed exclusively through Supervinyl’s LA location on Friday.
It’s not clear how many records Carpenter signed. Supervinyl opened their doors to customers at 10 AM, and they didn’t sell out until around 3 PM. Customers were limited to a single vinyl, and from what we’ve seen from Supervinyl’s social media posts the line stretched for several blocks.
Obviously, this was a pretty limited opportunity. Only LA locals were able to snag a record as this was an in-person only sale, and you’d need to get their early to have a chance at buying one. Still, it was worth the effort.
We started seeing presale listings for these records even before Supervinyl opened their doors, and now that the records have sold out things are really heating up. If you’re hoping to buy one, be prepared to shell out.
Right now, Sabrina Carpenter signed “Man’s Best Friend” vinyl are reselling for around $300, with more sales rolling in every hour. We don’t know how many resellers were in line for this release, but we salute every one that got through the doors before they sold out.
It’s unclear if Sabrina Carpenter will be producing more signed vinyl for “Man’s Best Friend”, although we’re certainly hoping so. She released signed versions of “Short ‘n’ Sweet” and “Fruitcake” after their official releases (with the former dropping over a year after the record’s release).
So stay tuned. It’s clear that Carpenter’s fans will pay out the nose for her signature, and it’s clear that she’s smart enough to keep churning out autographed records as long as people are paying.
