These were one of the most lucrative flips of 2023
The Nike Mind 001 slides retailed for $95 and sold out in under five minutes on January 8
Current resale prices average around $200 online
Nike has confirmed restocks are coming, with the all-black colorway set to drop February 5
Nike’s Mind Science Department spent years developing what they’re calling neuroscience-backed footwear. Centered on 22 foam nodes that “stimulate the brain”, the concept dropped last week with two new pairs of footwear. While the sneakers fizzled, the slides flew, and they’re currently reselling for well over their retail price. This was an easy win for resellers, and the profits speak for themselves.
In a saturated market like sneakers, sometimes a good gimmick is what you need to pull ahead. Nike gambled big on their Mind collection, and it looks like it’s paid off.
The shoes launched on January 8 through Nike’s SNKRS app. 001 Slides (mules) retailed at $95, while the 002 sneakers started at $145. Both designs were available in men’s and women’s sizes, and everything sold out fast.
Nike confirmed via Instagram that restocks are coming soon. The all-black colorway, originally planned for the January 8 debut, got pushed to February 5.
The sneaker version sits at lower price points across the board. Part of this comes down to use case. The slides are positioned as pregame and recovery wear, something you can slip on effortlessly. The sneakers require more commitment with laces and a closer fit. For most buyers, the appeal of brain-stimulating footwear makes more sense when you’re lounging around the house than taking them on a run.
The other factor is colorway preference. The red and light bone variants generated the most presale buzz back in December when StockX opened early listings, and that demand held through the actual release. The Black Chrome option emerged as the steady performer with consistent sales volume.
StockX data shows the Mind 001 slides sitting at a 98% price premium over retail, which is solid but not insane territory. The platform has moved significant volume with over 1,900 sales of just the Black Chrome colorway in three months. That level of activity means buyers are actually wearing these, not just holding them hoping for a moonshot.
eBay listings show similar pricing in the $180-220 range depending on size and colorway. Men’s sizes 8 through 12 are seeing the most action, which tracks with typical sneaker resale patterns. Women’s sizing follows similar trends but with less overall volume.
The wider market for recovery slides helped set expectations here. Nike’s had success with foam-based recovery footwear before, particularly the ReactX Rejuven8 that dropped last year. The Mind 001 is hitting similar price multiples early on, suggesting Nike found the right formula combining wellness trends with sneaker culture.
If Nike does a full restock of the original four colorways alongside the black drop, current resale prices will likely dip temporarily. More supply usually means lower premiums, at least in the short term. But the fact that Nike pulled the black colorway from the original drop to spread releases out suggests they’re managing hype, not flooding the market.
If you copped to flip, $100 profit per pair is solid right now. The February restock adds risk because we don’t know if Nike’s bringing back the original colorways or just adding the black variant. Selling before February 5 locks in your gains.
The Mind 001 isn’t going to pull Jordan 1 numbers, but as far as Nike slide releases go, this one’s performing well. The combination of actual innovation, celebrity endorsements (Erling Haaland was spotted wearing them), and the general recovery footwear trend created real demand beyond just resellers.
If you missed out on the initial drop, we strongly recommend marking your calendars for the Nike Mind 001 black colorway release set for February 5. This is by far the most hyped version from the collection, and we’re expecting strong secondary market performance.
The Nike Mind 001 slides are eating compared to the sneaker version, with consistent $100 profits on StockX and strong volume showing genuine buyer interest. The upcoming restock adds uncertainty, so if you’re sitting on pairs, consider selling before February 5 to lock in current prices.
