MF DOOM Figures Start Reselling Ahead of His Birthday

October 2023 will mark three years since MF DOOM’s death. In addition to a handful of posthumous releases and collaborative works, his estate has also authorized a variety of merchandise. One of these is an MF DOOM action figure, produced by the company Super7. Since their release, a number of these action figures have resold for around double what they cost at retail.

If you didn’t know, MF DOOM’s birthday is coming soon. The artist would have been 52 on July 13, but died unexpectedly at a hospital in 2020. His sudden death was a great shock to his fans and the rap community at large.

Recently, his estate announced a new collection of merchandise ahead of his birthday. Along with a set of clothes, there’s also an extremely cool MF DOOM action figure. It’s 3.85″ tall, with five points of articulation and an attachable microphone accessory.

The figure’s appearance is based on MF DOOM’s first album, Operation: Doomsday from 1999. He’s wearing a green hoodie and jeans, while the mask is based on the Gladiator-inspired form he’d take on for his live appearances.

Super7 MF DOOM action figures were first sold on June 26, 2023, for $25. It sold out in under an hour. Since then, the MF DOOM figure has not restocked, and there has been no further announcement on whether it will return for sale.

MF DOOM Figures Resell

It seems there weren’t enough action figures to go around, because a number of them have resold for more than they retailed for. Currently, MF DOOM action figures are reselling for around $60, with a profit of $35 per figure.

There’s actually a pretty impressive volume of sales for these figures. Niche offerings like these will typically have 10-20 or sales over a two week period, but there have been at least 150 sales of the MF DOOM figure on eBay alone since it first retailed.

It just goes to show how dedicated fans of the artist are, and how deep his influence truly was. The MF DOOM estate has been fairly conservative with his image since his death, and while there is a modest amount of approved merchandise and crossovers, it’s not especially common. That being said, pay attention for more MF DOOM-related items, as they clearly have the potential to resell.
