On September 1, certain attendees to the Dodgers-Braves game at Dodgers Stadium will receive something special. The LA Dodgers have produced a unique tribute to Kobe Bryant, a “Black Mamba” jersey. Since these are only available to special event ticketholders on next Friday’s “Lakers Night”, these jerseys are looking to be fairly collectable. In fact, many of these ticketholders have already started putting their Kobe Bryant Dodgers jerseys up for sale on eBay. Let’s dive in.

It’s been more than three years since Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash. Since then, LA and the world has grieved over the loss of one of this generation’s biggest stars.

In the last few years we’ve seen several high-profile tributes from sports teams, especially LA-based organizations. August 24 has been officially recognized within LA and Orange County as Kobe Bryant Day, and now the Dodgers are producing a new piece of memorabilia to honor the star.

On September 1, the Dodgers will be handing out special Kobe Bryant Dodgers jerseys during the team’s game against the Braves. “Black Mamba” Dodgers jerseys feature a black snakeskin design with yellow accents. The Dodgers logo and a number 8 are slung across the front, while the back features Bryant’s name and 24.

For the first ten years of his career Bryant wore the number 8, and the last 10 were under 24. These two numbers are also why August 24 has become Kobe Bryant Day (8/24). The design is reminiscent of the jerseys the Lakers wore during 2020’s season.

How to get a Kobe Bryant Dodgers Jersey

Unlike other MLB sponsored giveaways, these jerseys are not available to every attendee of next Friday’s game. The only way to get a Kobe Bryant Dodgers jersey is to present a special “Lakers Night” event ticket.

As of this writing, tickets are not sold out, but they are pricey. The lowest listed price for a Lakers Night Dodgers ticket is $235 for a spot in the nosebleeds. A little steep sure, but once you see the prices people are willing to pay for a Kobe Bryant Dodgers jersey, these tickets might actually be a good deal.

Kobe Bryant Dodgers Jerseys For Sale

More than a week remains until these jerseys are actually available, but that hasn’t stopped people from reselling them. After designs were unveiled on July 24, hype around the Black Mamba Dodgers jersey began to pick up. As game day draws near, excitement has only grown.

In turn, many attendees to the upcoming day have decided to put their Kobe Bryant Dodgers jersey for sale on eBay. It’ll be a few days before they ship, sure, but fans seem quite to eager to get their hands on one. Right now, a Kobe Bryant Dodgers jersey is reselling for between $200 and $300.

There was a flood of early sales back in July when tickets were first sold, but prices have been steadily ticking up in the days approaching the game. For resellers who bought their tickets early, and held out for the long run, these jerseys are essentially paying for their seat at the game.

And who knows, maybe once the Kobe Bryant Dodgers jerseys are actually handed out and start circulating on social media, demand will go up again. If these catch on to the same degree as May’s Braves X OutKast bobbleheads, we might see resellers actually make a profit off of attending a baseball game.
