Atlanta Braves fans got a special treat during Thursday’s home game. The first 15,000 fans to take their seats at Truist Park received a special Braves OutKast Bobblehead. These bobbleheads were enormously popular and advertised well beforehand, with Thursday’s game having record attendance. As just one part of 2023’s free giveaways for home games, the Braves OutKast Bobbleheads have already started reselling, and the prices are remarkable.

The Braves OutKast Bobblehead giveaway

A collaboration between the Braves and OutKast is pretty natural. They’re both homegrown Atlanta superstars, and they were both pretty damn big in the 90s.

For Thursday’s home game on May 25, 15,000 OutKast Bobbleheads were handed out to attendees free of charge. The bobbleheads feature Andre 3000 and Big Boi riding in a classic red Cadillac. Andre is wearing a modern Braves jersey and cap, while Big Boi sports the red and white uniform worn by the franchise’s legendary 90s lineup.

Together, they form an extremely cool collectible, perfect for any Braves or OutKast fan, or a ride-or-die Atlantan. These bobbleheads are the latest entry in a series of giveaways at Braves home games for the 2023 season. While the other promotions have been popular, the OutKast Bobbleheads have reached a new level.

With lines stretching blocks and thousands jockeying for a spot, these bobbleheads were a hit.

OutKast star Big Boi was in attendance at Thursday’s game, and actually threw out the first pitch. Big Boi remained in the broadcast booth during the game, which saw the Braves win 8-5 over the Phillies.

Were the Braves OutKast Bobbleheads free?

If you don’t count the cost of admission, then yeah, the OutKast Bobbleheads came completely free of charge. All you had to do to get one was be one of the first 15,000 through the gates at Truist Park on May 25.

As is the case with live sports, ticket costs are all over the place. It is possible to get a spot in the nosebleeds for under $20 at some games, making these bobbleheads quite cheap all things considered.

Braves OutKast Bobbleheads go up for sale

Considering how popular these bobbleheads were, and how many people missed out, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Braves OutKast Bobbleheads are reselling.

The first sales recorded through eBay took actually took place during April. Enterprising sellers offered the Bobbleheads as a presale in the weeks before the game, despite the fact that there was no guarantee they’d actually obtain a bobblehead. Still, the strategy seemed to work for at least a few sellers, as there are numerous recorded presales at around $100 before the game.

Braves OutKast Bobblehead For Sale eBay

The day of the game, sales exploded as sellers actually got their hands on the bobbleheads. Prices started off at $100, then quickly rose. In less than 24 hours, the price for a Braves OutKast Bobblehead went from $100, to $150, to an average of $200.

There have even been sales recorded for more than $300. Clearly, fans are willing to fork over serious cash for one of these bobbleheads. Even the box resells, with confirmed sales of around $30. If you got your seats for cheap, reselling the box from your Braves OutKast Bobblehead would pay for admission.

Will the Braves OutKast Bobbleheads return?

Considering how popular these bobbleheads were with fans, there’s considerable interest in a second run. Will the Braves host another OutKast day, or will the Braves Outkast Bobbleheads be sold as regular merchandise? Probably not.

The one-time nature of the event and the exclusive appeal behind the bobbleheads makes it unlikely they’ll see an official return. Disappointed fans will have to rely on resellers to get a bobblehead for the foreseeable future.

These will not be the last bobbleheads given away free at a Braves game this year. There are several more promotions planned, with more giveaways at upcoming home games. For a full list of Braves 2023 giveaways, check out their website here.

That said, it’s likely that the Braves OutKast Bobblehead will remain the most popular, and expensive offering. It’s attractive to Braves fans, OutKast fans, and Atlantans in general. It’s just downright cool, highly collectible, and exclusive. The rest of the upcoming giveaways are focused on the current Braves lineup. We still expect these to resell, but not reach quite the same prices as the OutKast Bobbleheads.
