Animated 3.5′ Chucky Dolls are selling out at Home Depot
They are $200 and reselling for upwards of $350
Expect to see prices go up and stock go down closer to Halloween
Looking to pad your wallet this fall? Home Depot has begun stocking animatronic Chucky Halloween decorations at their stores, and the response is phenomenal. These are selling out pretty much everywhere and are currently unavailable online. Naturally, resellers have stepped in to capitalize on the opportunity. Home Depot Chucky Dolls are now flipping for hundreds of dollars over MSRP, and netting resellers some nice profits ahead of Halloween.
One thing that the Chucky franchise has going for it is merchandising. When your principal characters are under four feet tall and look like store bought dolls, it makes it easy to spin up accurate replicas.
And that’s pretty ideal for making Halloween decorations. When you walk past a neighbor’s yard slick with fake blood and severed plastic limbs, you know that it’s all make believe, but what if they have a 1:1 recreation of Chucky staring at you from the window? There’s something there.
Earlier this month, Home Depot started selling Animated Chucky Doll Halloween decorations. Measuring at 3 and a half feet and replete with motors that give it six ranges of motion, this is one creepy-ass prop.
While it probably won’t come to life and kill your whole family, that little shadow of doubt is enough to freak out any wayward trick-or-treaters. These Animated Chucky Dolls are $200 and available at Home Depot right now.
The consumer response has been very solid though, and many stores have completely sold out of their available stock. These were briefly available through Home Depot’s website, but the steep demand caused them to quickly sell out.
If you want one, you’ll need to earn it. You can find these in the seasonal decoration aisle at Home Depot, and we recommend buying any that you manage to find.
Why? Because these are flipping for much more than Home Depot is asking. Even with Halloween more than two months away, people are eager to begin stocking up now, and we’re already seeing aftermarket sales for Halloween props like these.
Right now, Home Depot Animated Chucky Dolls are reselling for upwards of $300. Many sellers have managed to flip theirs for around $350, with some even pushing up to $400.
At $200 retail, this represents a theoretical profit of $100 or more. At 12 pounds, these are also not extremely expensive when it comes to shipping. That said, if you’re looking to maximize your profit, selling local through platforms like OfferUp or Facebook Marketplace is always a good idea.
Surprised to see Halloween merch reselling in August? Don’t be. Now is actually the best time to get in on decorations like this. Companies begin stocking premium Halloween props during the summer, and almost everything will be sold out by October.
Once the holiday actually rolls around, latecomers will have missed their chance to buy from a retailer, and resellers will really start making money. In the last few weeks we’ve covered other profitable Halloween flips like Giant Groundbreaking Skeletons and Nightmare Before Christmas Lanterns from Costco.
TL;DR? Buy spooky stuff now. Resell it later. Make a lot of money. Subscribe to our newsletter if you want to stay updated on new flips like this, and start reselling like a pro.
