Chappell Roan Sells Autographs to Benefit Palestine

Chappell Roan fans had the opportunity to buy a risograph with her autograph at a concert on Friday. The signed risographs were available at the merch counter for ₤100, and were extremely popular. Photographs of the sale went viral online, and now her fans are hoping the risographs will be available at future shows. Well if you haven’t heard about her yet, Chappell Roan is Gen Z’s latest pop overlord. She’s been picking up attention in the last few years before really blowing up in 2024. The sudden catapult into overnight supercelebrity has definitely been something to watch.

And it seems like she’s handling it well enough. In between sold out shows and appearances at major festivals, Roan still has time for political activism.

She’s been a staunch advocate for Palestine, and is part of a widening call within stardom for a ceasefire in Gaza. She even revealed she had a plan to recite Palestinian poetry during a White House performance, but pulled out after threats to her security.

Several of her recent shows have included benefits for Palestinian aid, and she’s recently taken it a step further. During Friday’s concert in Manchester, Chappell Roan was selling signed risographs with all proceeds going to Palestine.

Roan’s autograph was going for ₤100 at this show, and it’s not clear what the limits were. The move has been (mostly) well-received by her fanbase and the media at large.

But what the hell is a risograph? Commonly referred to as “digital screen printing”, risographs are a medium for mass-producing printed artwork at a low cost with vivid colors. They’ve picked up attention lately as a lo-fi artform that pairs well with other forms of outsider media like zines and disposable photography.

In other words, a perfect fit for Chappell Roan’s art-conscious, protest-adjacent brand. And they’re a great opportunity for fans at her shows to pick up an autograph and support a cause at the same time.

That’s great and all, but why are we talking about it? We’re scalpers – artists and fans usually hate us, but these risographs are worth paying attention to.

While Chappell Roan has been a professional musician for a while, her very sudden rise to household name has been incredibly lucrative for resellers. Merch from early shows and tour paraphernalia has exploded in price. What would have taken years to resell for a profit flips in a few weeks.

And at the top of all that is signed merch. Autographs are king when it comes to collecting, and Roan has been pretty generous with her pen. It’s not uncommon to see signed Chappell Roan merchandise reselling for hundreds of dollars at a time.

So when we see new autographs come onto the market for ₤100 at a time with the extra appeal of being connected to charity, well, we pay attention. There’s a very good chance we’ll see a few of these signed Chappell Roan risographs end up on eBay.

It’s not too late to join the fun either. Roan has five more concerts scheduled in the UK and Ireland, and she’ll be returning to the US on September 28. We don’t know if there will be more signed Chappell Roan risographs for sale, but we can say the response so far has been very good.
