Five new Lego sets are available for preorder in Bricklink’s Designer Program
They range from $54 to $350 and will not restock after selling out
Preorders for the most popular sets will likely sell out in a few hours
Here’s an opportunity for an easy and low-risk flip. Bricklink is holding the fifth edition of their crowdfunded Designer Series right now. These are fan-designed sets that are produced in limited numbers by Lego according to preorder demand. Once they sell out, they’re gone for good. We’ve seen past Bricklink designer Lego sets resell for hundreds in the past, so check these out before they pass you by.
As we all know, only half the fun in building Legos is following the instructions. Making your own designs and mixing sets is a great way to spend an hour or a weekend.
And there’s a thriving aftermarket for unofficial Lego sets, referred to as MOCs (My Own Creation). Bricklink is the premier platform for these creatives, and they work together with Lego on the Designer Program.
Every few months, a handful of designs are picked by the Bricklink staff out of thousands of submissions. These are voted on and then put up for crowdfunding. Sets that make the cut are produced by Lego, and customers receive them after a few months.
The Bricklink Designer Program Series 5 open preorders yesterday. Five new sets were listed: The Thieves of Tortuga, Mushroom Village, Antique Shop, Adventure in Transylvania, and Popcorn Wagon. Prices start at around $50 up to $350.
As of this publication, all of the designs have reached their crowdfunding threshold. In fact, the response to Bricklink’s Series 5 Designer sets has been so strong that they’ve boosted their manufacturing caps. If you’re looking to preorder one of these before they sell out (again), this is your only chance.
For resellers, we recommend preordering the Adventure in Transylvania set ($350) and/or the Popcorn Wagon ($54). Highly complex, medieval-themed Lego sets are very popular among collectors, and the Popcorn Wagon is inexpensive and selling quickly.
Bricklink limits customers to a maximum of two of each set per household. Per their website, manufacturing will take place later this year and the sets are expected to begin shipping in November.
We really can’t overstate how strong demand is for these Series 5 Designer sets. In less than 48 hours, fans have collectively made enough preorders to exceed the projected supply for three out of the five sets.
And as Bricklink Designer Program sets, production is limited to a single run. Bricklink Designer sets do not restock after they sell out, making them perfect for resellers.
The last time we covered Bricklink sets was 2024, and we saw the coveted Mountain Fortress set sell out at its $380 retail price and resell for up to $1,000.
Like we said, Lego fans like castles. The Series 5 Bricklink Adventure in Transylvania Lego set follows a similar theme and has over 4,000 pieces, making it the largest Bricklink Designer set to date.
All in all, this looks like an excellent opportunity for any reseller. And as a preorder, these are almost entirely risk-free. If your set fails to resell, you can simply cancel your preorder before it ships for a full refund. Considering these have a six month lead time, you’ll have a massive cushion to decide whether or not you want to keep the preorder.
