Got any plans tonight? If you want to make some money AND see a movie, we’ve got a great opportunity for you. AMC will be selling special “Bat Signal” popcorn buckets tonight for the re-release of 2022’s “The Batman” in theaters. Similar buckets have flipped for hundreds of dollars in the past, making this release a great opportunity for any collector or reseller. Here’s what you need to know.

AMC Bat Signal Popcorn Buckets

By now, you should know the drill. New movie comes to theaters, chains spin up commemorative popcorn buckets, resellers flip them on eBay. Recent releases for films like “Alien: Romulus” and “Inside Out 2” have resold for tidy profits in the last few months.

But hang on a second; there’s no new Batman movie, or at least there shouldn’t be one hitting theaters any time soon. Well, some theaters are actually holding a limited release of 2022’s “The Batman” tonight only.

This is a promotion for HBO’s upcoming “The Penguin” series which is set to debut later this year. Viewers will be able to get a sneak peek of the show after the movie.

And while that’s all well and good, it’s the merch we really care about. AMC Theaters will be selling a collection of Bat Signal popcorn buckets and lenticular drink cups. The buckets are $35 and cups are $12, and theaters will also offer a combo option at $45.

You might notice that this merchandise isn’t exactly themed around the most recent movie. Well, 2024 also marks the 85th anniversary of Batman as a character, so these new popcorn buckets and drink cups are more a birthday celebration than movie tie-in.

It seems like this will be a one-day-only opportunity. The best way to get an AMC Bat Signal popcorn bucket is to call nearby theaters ahead of time and confirm that they have them in stock, then simply swing by concessions to make the purchase.

You do not need to have a ticket to buy these popcorn buckets. You might also be able to purchase more than one, but that’s up to the discretion of the theater employees. It helps to not look like an obvious reseller, and explain that you’re buying extras for your friends.

If you’ve got nothing else going on tonight, we recommend heading to your local AMC and stocking up on as many of these buckets as you can. Like we said before, collectable popcorn buckets have been some of the most profitable flips of the last few years.

Want examples? We’ve got examples. The release of “Alien: Romulus” saw not just one, but two different popcorn bucket designs that were routinely flipping for up to $100 at a time.

Before that, “Deadpool & Wolverine” popcorn buckets generated tons of profit for resellers, with major releases from Cinemark, AMC, and Regal. These were part of a huge host of merch that all resold following the film’s release.

And even before that we covered the infamous “Duneussy” popcorn buckets. Outwardly designed as sandworm, these popcorn buckets went viral on social media thanks to their unintentional resemblance to male masturbatory aids.

Point being, there’s money to be made in popcorn buckets. Whether people are taking them home to display or defile, resellers can rely on them as great source of reliable profit after a film hits the theaters.
