Key Points

  • All three signed vinyl variants retailed for $50 and featured unique Tim Burton artwork

  • The GR1M variant is reselling for up to $250 on eBay, while MR. MAYERS and DUMMY are flipping for $120 to $160

  • These are pre-orders that ship in January 2026, meaning buyers won’t receive the actual product for another month

After nearly eight years since his last album, ASAP Rocky finally dropped signed vinyl pre-orders for Don’t Be Dumb, and resellers moved fast. The three Tim Burton-designed variants sold out quick and are already reselling for solid profits. The GR1M designs are the most popular, but MR. MAYERS and DUMMY vinyl are still moving well.

Rocky’s been teasing Don’t Be Dumb since 2024, with the album originally slated for August 30 of that year. Sample clearances, leaks, and even a court case pushed it back repeatedly. When he finally announced a January 16, 2026 release date earlier this month, fans had heard it before. Rocky literally sold merch that said “the album is never dropping” just weeks earlier at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival.

Rocky revealed Tim Burton designed the album artwork, a collaboration he’d been trying to make happen for over a year. Burton’s involvement isn’t just cover art either. Rocky’s been working on a short film with the legendary director, turning Don’t Be Dumb into a full visual project beyond just music. When he dropped the vinyl pre-orders alongside the official album announcement, collectors didn’t hesitate.

Each variant features different Burton artwork and colored vinyl. The MR. MAYERS edition comes with black and white vinyl discs, the DUMMY edition also features black and white discs, and the GR1M edition stands out with opaque lime green and opaque pink vinyl. All three include a signed insert from Rocky rather than signed jackets.

The GR1M variant is clearly the favorite among collectors. Its colorful lime green and pink vinyl, combined with Burton’s “GR1M Roller” artwork, created the most demand. The artwork features Burton’s signature Gothic aesthetic, which matches the album’s darker tone and Rocky’s entire rollout.

Each purchase was limited to four units per customer, which helped prevent massive scalping but didn’t stop resellers from grabbing inventory. At $50 retail, the barrier to entry was low enough that plenty of buyers copped with flipping in mind.

eBay listings show GR1M variants asking anywhere from $175 to $250, with some sellers pushing even higher. The MR. MAYERS and DUMMY variants are moving between $120 and $160. These are pre-order listings, so buyers are paying premium prices for something they won’t receive until January.

The profit margins here are solid. At the low end for GR1M, you’re looking at $125 profit before fees. After eBay’s 13% cut, that’s around $97.75 per unit. At $250, you’re clearing approximately $167 after fees. For MR. MAYERS and DUMMY, profits range from $48 to $82 after fees depending on sale price.

Keep in mind these numbers assume you can actually sell them before the album drops. Once the vinyl ships in January and the album is officially out, demand could shift. If the album gets mixed reviews or Rocky delays it again, secondary market prices might soften.

Hip hop vinyl has always been collectible, but signed editions with legitimate artwork from someone like Tim Burton are rare. Rocky’s previous signed vinyl releases, including his orange Long.Live.A$AP pressing, hold serious value in the collector community.

Risk Factors

These are pre-orders shipping in January 2026. You’re selling something you don’t have yet, which means delivery issues, manufacturing delays, or cancellations could create problems. If Rocky delays the album again or if production hits snags, you could be stuck refunding buyers or dealing with eBay disputes.

Also worth noting: once these actually ship and fans start posting their copies online, the mystery factor disappears. Initial hype often drives the highest prices. By February, you might see values normalize as more people list their extras.

The album itself is another variable. If Don’t Be Dumb gets panned or underperforms, collectible demand could drop. Conversely, if it’s actually incredible and becomes a defining hip hop album of the decade, these signed pre-orders could become serious long-term holds.

Bottom Line

If you copped multiple copies, you’re sitting on legitimate profit right now. The GR1M variant is clearly the money play, but even the other two variants are showing healthy margins. Whether you flip now for guaranteed profit or hold through the album release is the real decision.

Smart resellers might consider selling one or two now to recoup their investment, then holding one for the long term. Hip hop memorabilia from major artists tends to appreciate, especially when it involves collaborations with cultural icons like Tim Burton.
