Today we’re looking at Hot Wheels. Every year, Mattel sells a limited number of Mainline collector’s sets from the previous year. These include all of the new cars that dropped in the last 12 months, factory-sealed and targeted specifically for collectors.
The 2024 Hot Wheels mainline set contains 488 different Hot Wheels, and includes 15 Treasure Hunt and 15 Super Treasure Hunt cars. These are especially popular with collectors and make up a large part of third party Hot Wheels sales.
Mattel will be selling the 2024 Hot Wheels Mainline set at 9 A.M. PST on January 7. They will be limited to 1,250 sets in total, and Mattel is charging $600 per.
Additionally, this set is RLC Exclusive, meaning only members of Mattel’s premium Red Line Club will be able to buy. If you’re not a member, consider paying the $10 yearly fee to go after this drop.
Even though these sets haven’t gone up for sale yet, we’ve seen a handful of confirmed presales through eBay. That’s a good sign for sure, but just wait until you see the prices.

The real price of these sets will be determined tomorrow. If you’re considering going after this drop, remember that Mattel offers thirty day refunds for this product. This removes most of the risk, because you can simply return your order if the set fails to resell.
