Hot Wheels has dropped a complete collection of their cars made with Daniel Arsham
The set is $690 and includes eight cars
Resellers have flipped individual cars for over $200
Over the last few months, Hot Wheels teamed up with visual artist Daniel Arsham for a limited series of collaborations. Blending Arsham’s style and Hot Wheels’ iconic brand, the collection was a major hit with collectors. Now Hot Wheels has released a bundled set that includes all of these cars in a single package. Resellers have been quick to jump on the opportunity, and there’s still time for you to join in too.
It’s hard to think of a toy brand with more sticking power than Hot Wheels. For more than fifty years, kids have been excitedly opening new Hot Wheels packages for Christmases, birthdays, or just trips to Walmart.
And as those kids have grown up, so has Hot Wheels. During 2023 and 2024, the brand linked with renowned artist Daniel Arsham for a new spin on their cars with with his art.
Check out the Hot Wheels Legends Archive. This is a collection of eight different miniature racers, based on classic Hot Wheels originals like the Twin Mill and real designs from Porsche and Ford.
The majority of these cars are made from a unique Silkstone material. Unlike the zinc alloy Hot Wheels is known for, this is softer, smoother, and very similar to what Arsham himself has used for his sculptures.
You might also notice some of the cars have a pockmarked and deteriorated appearance. This is a reference to some of Arsham’s best known art, which depicts iconic brands and media as decayed and eroded “relics”; current-day objects found in future archaeological digs.
In a way, this collaboration with Hot Wheels is an extension of Arsham’s art. They’ve been produced in very limited numbers over the past few years, and have become a favorite among Hot Wheels collectors.
Now Hot Wheels has produced a complete set of all eight Legends vehicles. These bundles are available on Mattel’s website for $690, and represent a collector’s last chance to snag these cars at retail prices.
Each car is encased in a plastic display case with engraved names, and the entire set is housed in an Eroded Rally Case replica for display and protection. Certificates of authenticity are included for all of the cars, and they are identical to the prior retail releases.
Pretty cool stuff. If you’re a fan of Arsham’s work or you just love collecting obscure Hot Wheels, this set is perfect. That said, we’re generally interested in products that can make us money, and this has definitely caught our eyes.
With eight different cars that have already released and done well on eBay, resellers were quick to the math and realize there’s a lot of potential profit in the Hot Wheels Legend Series bundle.
Take the Arsham Eroded Porsche 930 Hot Wheels included in the bundle as an example. These released as a solo drop back in 2023 for $200. They have consistently flipped at or above that price over the past few months.
The Eroded Rodger Dodgers are also a good example. Also a 2023 drop, they were sold on Hot Wheels’ site for $70, and usually flip for around double that.
On their own, the cars from Arsham’s Hot Wheels collaboration haven’t been anything special for a reseller, but when packaged altogether and sold for under $700, the potential here becomes a lot clearer.
If you can manage to flip each of the cars for $100 or more, you can start making some real profits very fast. We’ll let you make the call, but don’t expect these bundles to last for very long.
