Sony just announced another limited edition controller that PlayStation collectors will definitely want to jump on. The God of War 20th Anniversary DualSense controller opens for preorder on October 3 at 7 AM PDT, priced at $85. We’ve seen limited edition controllers resell for solid profits in the past, so keep this on your radar.

Limited Edition God of War DualSense

The controller features a simple design reflecting Kratos’s ashen gray skin and red omega tattoo, with mostly white coloring and a red stripe running along the right grip. Sony’s Associate Art Director explains they specifically chose this design to represent “both Greek and Norse sagas” from the franchise’s 20-year history.

This controller is one of four limited-edition DualSense releases hitting stores in October, meaning collectors will be spread across multiple drops. However, God of War is one of the platform’s most iconic offerings, and its status could give this particular controller an edge in the secondary market.

Will they Resell?

Gaming controllers have proven profitable for resellers when they hit the right combination of popular franchise and limited availability. The $10 premium over standard retail reflects Sony’s confidence in the collectible appeal, but the profit margins won’t be massive unless demand significantly exceeds supply.

God of War has maintained a dedicated fanbase across multiple console generations, making anniversary items particularly appealing to collectors. Similar PlayStation limited editions have shown strong resell performance with recent Helldivers and Astro Bot releases flipping for solid profits.

PlayStation Direct will be the primary source, with major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop also carrying inventory. The wide retail availability reduces scarcity but also means more purchase opportunities for resellers who can move quickly.

Controllers offer advantages for flippers – they’re lightweight for shipping, have established market demand, and God of War specifically appeals to both gaming enthusiasts and collectors. Gaming accessories like controllers are noted as profitable flip items on platforms like eBay.

The biggest risk factor is Sony’s “limited quantities” language without specific numbers. If production runs are substantial, resell values could remain close to retail. However, if they genuinely restrict supply, gaming collectors typically drive prices up within weeks of release.

Standard DualSense controllers retail at major stores with full return policies, providing some downside protection if the flip doesn’t materialize. This isn’t a “final sale only” situation, reducing the typical risks associated with gaming preorders.

For resellers interested in gaming collectibles, this represents a moderate-risk opportunity with the God of War brand providing solid collector appeal. The October 3 preorder date gives time to research recent comparable sales and position for the drop.
