Key Points

  • The 12-inch Stephamos the Phoenix Squishmallow is available for preorder now with all proceeds benefiting the ACS

  • It’s priced at $20 for a 12″ plush

  • Preorders are US-only and qualify for return within 30 days of ship date, reducing buyer risk compared to final sale items

Jazwares just opened preorders for Stephamos the Phoenix, a 12-inch Squishmallow created in collaboration with the American Cancer Society. All proceeds go directly to cancer research and patient support. The plush is available for preorder now on Jazwares’ official shop, with shipping expected on or before October 15, 2025.

The phoenix design is new and features blue and yellow coloring, which could appeal to collectors. Jazwares is also donating 2,500 units to Hope Lodge communities nationwide, making the total production run somewhat limited compared to mass-market releases.

However, charity releases present a different scenario. These items carry emotional weight for buyers who often purchase them to support the cause rather than purely as collectibles. Flipping charity items can draw criticism from the Squishmallow community, which has been known to harass resellers in the past.

Limited edition Squishmallows have resold above retail in the past, particularly exclusive releases and collaborations. McDonald’s Happy Meal Squishmallows have flipped for 3X to 5X retail. Event-exclusive releases and Select Series items regularly command premiums on secondary markets.

Resale Considerations

After eBay’s 13% fees, you’d need to sell a $16-20 retail Squishmallow for roughly $25-30 to make $5-8 profit per unit. That requires finding buyers willing to pay 50% or more above retail for a charity item they could have bought themselves.

The 30-day return window means you can return unsold inventory if demand doesn’t materialize, which is better than being stuck with final sale items. But that also means other buyers have the same option, potentially increasing supply on secondary markets if initial demand is weak.

Squishmallow collectors tend to buy what they want directly when available. The preorder window gives anyone interested ample time to purchase at retail, reducing potential resale demand.

The Squishmallow community can be hostile toward resellers, particularly for charity releases. There have been documented cases of resellers being doxxed and harassed. While reselling isn’t illegal, flipping items where proceeds benefit cancer research isn’t going to win you fans.

If you’re buying this to flip, understand you’re taking social risk alongside financial risk. The optics of profiting from a cancer charity release aren’t great, even if technically permissible.

If you want to support the American Cancer Society and add a unique phoenix Squishmallow to your collection, this is a straightforward purchase. The return policy provides downside protection if you change your mind.

If you’re buying strictly to resell, the profit potential is modest at best, the community reception will be negative, and you’ll be competing against anyone else who can preorder the same item for the next several weeks. Limited edition Squishmallows do flip, but charity releases operate under different dynamics than standard exclusives. Buy at your own risk.
