This Ritz x Oreo hybrid was released by Mondelez as a brand promotion in May of 2022. Limited to 1,000 units.
Ritz and Oreo met up in a secret lab to create an unholy amalgamation of the classic snacks. Very few boxes were produced, and they were released through a first come, first served format. After stocks depleted, buyers found they could list their cookies on eBay for way more than they paid. Sometimes, junk food can be good for you, or at least your wallet.
Do you like Oreos? Do you like Ritz peanut butter crackers? So do a lot of other people too, apparently. Perhaps a bit too much.
In May 2022, the two brands teamed up to release a limited edition hybrid between the two products. One of these snacks consists of a single Ritz with peanut butter filling on one side, and a single Oreo cracker with creme filling on the other, respective fillings meeting in the inside of one stacked cookie. Only 1,000 boxes were released, and buyers needed only pay $3.95 for shipping and handling, with the box itself being free!

Sounds good enough — and easily re-creatable, too, if you missed out on the free online release. If you wanted to try these snacks, one would think you could simply head to the grocery store, pick up a pack of Oreos and a pack of Ritz peanut butter crackers, and combine the two whilst snacking, for a grand total of about $6 and change in supplies.
But some clever snackers decided to skip the store, and head to eBay instead to get their fix.
Just a day after release, resellers were selling plenty of boxes of the limited-edition snack for $100 or more.
Was this a good deal? For snacking, probably not. It seems that each promotional box only contained 6 of the creations — meaning that at $100, buyers were spending around $17 per cookie.
Let’s hope most eBay buyers were collectors, and not snackers.
