Key Points

  • The 2025 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set retailed for $255 and sold out within hours of the noon launch yesterday

  • Current resale prices on eBay are around $350 with relatively low sales volume as the market establishes itself

  • Limited to 25,008 units with a household order limit of one, this is the final year for this product line

The US Mint released its 2025 Limited Edition Silver Proof 8-piece set yesterday at noon, and resellers who expected a typical slow burn got a wake-up call. The set sold out faster than most recent Mint releases, with the entire production run disappearing before many collectors could even get their orders through. Now they’re flipping on eBay, though sales volume is relatively light as the market figures itself out.

Limited Edition Silver Proof Set 25RC

This set marks the end of an era. The Limited Edition Silver Proof Set debuted in 2012 and has been released annually except for 2015, but the Mint announced this would be the final year for the product.

That “last chance” factor drove demand hard, combined with the set containing the final five coins in the American Women Quarters program. Eight total coins struck in 99.9 percent fine silver for $255 retail, packaged in a black hinged box with silver foil artwork.

The set includes a one-ounce American Silver Eagle, the five American Women Quarters honoring Ida B Wells, Juliette Gordon Low, Dr. Vera Rubin, Stacey Park Milbern, and Althea Gibson, plus a Kennedy half dollar and Roosevelt dime.

The US Mint has been solid for resellers this year. The 250th Anniversary Navy Silver Eagle flipped for strong margins, the Army privy mark version did even better, and the laser engraved American Silver Eagle showed consistent demand. Limited Edition sets historically perform well on the secondary market when kept sealed, and this being the last one adds scarcity value that previous years didn’t have.

eBay listings are showing asking prices between $325 and $400, with actual sold listings clustering around $350. Sales volume is fairly low right now, which tracks for a product that just sold out yesterday. The market needs time to shake out as flippers list their sets and buyers decide if they want to pay the premium or wait for prices to settle.

What’s interesting is the lack of panic selling. Most resellers understand Mint products need time to find their true value, and nobody is dumping these at $280 or $300 just to flip fast. The “final year” designation gives sellers confidence to hold for better prices, and buyers seem willing to pay knowing there will never be another Limited Edition Silver Proof Set.

Comparing to similar recent releases, the Navy and Army Silver Eagles saw immediate strong resale activity with clear profit margins. This set is tracking similarly but with more caution from both sides of the market since the retail price was higher and the profit margin is tighter after eBay’s fees.

What's Next?

Short term, expect prices to stay in the $325 to $375 range while the market finds equilibrium. If you grabbed one at retail yesterday, you’re sitting on about $70 to $95 profit after eBay fees, which is decent but not spectacular. The real question is whether to sell now or hold.

Long term outlook is more interesting. As the only “final edition” in the series, this set could appreciate significantly over the next few years if the Mint’s replacement products don’t capture the same collector interest. Previous Limited Edition sets have shown steady appreciation when kept sealed, and being the last one gives this extra collectible value beyond just the silver content.

The risk is that the Mint’s new numismatic products announced for future years could pull attention and demand away from the 2025 set. If they release something more compelling with similar silver content and better packaging, this set might plateau rather than climb. Also, if silver prices drop significantly, the perceived value could take a hit even though the collectible premium should hold.

The Bottom Line

If you copped at retail, you have a solid flip right now with $70 to $95 profit after fees. That’s respectable for a same-day or next-day turnaround. However, the smart play might be holding this sealed for 12 to 24 months and letting the “final edition” factor work in your favor as supply gets absorbed by long-term collectors.

For anyone considering buying at current resale prices to flip higher, that’s risky. Paying $350 to hope for $400 or $450 leaves almost no room after fees and shipping. Better to wait and see if prices climb naturally over the next year, then decide if you want to chase appreciation or look for the next Mint release with cleaner margins.

Collectors who missed the drop are in a tough spot. Paying 40 percent over retail stings, but if you’re completing the Limited Edition set collection or want the final American Women Quarters in this premium packaging, it might be worth it.
