Trader Joe's Canvas Mini Totes are Back and Reselling Again

As we all know, the worst part of grocery shopping is hauling the bags around. Hopefully you remembered your reusables, because the store-provided paper bags will split the second you put a can in. Trader Joe’s has been producing their own line of reusable canvas totes that has inexplicably gone viral. Their new designs will typically sell out in days, before going on to resell online. Once again, Trader Joe’s mini totes have restocked, and once again they are flipping.

This is starting to get a little predictable. If this headline seems familiar, don’t worry; it’s not deja vu. We last talked about Trader Joe’s reusable bags in June, and before that way back in March.

Here’s the deal: Trader Joe’s (like almost every other grocer) sells branded reusable bags at their store. Trader Joe’s (unlike most every other grocer) has a dedicated fanbase that loves their products and wants to flaunt it.

The result? You have a set of canvas shopping bags that are desirable, collectable, and above all else, resell…able. Every time new bags land in stores, they end up selling out and being relisted on eBay.

And that’s exactly what happened yesterday. Trader Joe’s restocked their original mini canvas totes that went viral earlier this year, and throngs of yuppies mobbed their stores to secure one.

Trader Joe’s canvas mini totes are $3. They’re available in stores nationwide, and come in four different colorways. Other than the big Trader Joe’s logo in the middle, these are indistinguishable from any other reusable bag in form and function.

But sometimes, that’s enough. Well that, and a bunch of TikToks promoting the bags making go viral, videos and articles showcasing them, and images of sold out shelves following the demand.

Now that they’ve restocked, Trader Joe’s mini Totes are reselling for around $20 at a time. Packs of all four colors are the most popular, but collectors are willing to pay for single bags as well.

At $3 a bag, reselling Trader Joe’s mini totes result in profits of more than $10 per bag. Getting to a store soon after they’ve stocked is the best way to load up, and the potential profits turn your grocery store trip into something lucrative.
