Stray Kids dropped a special signed vinyl variant of their album “Karma”
They were just $28 and available for several hours
They flipped for up to $150 before settling to around $70
Time to add another boy band to your reselling watchlist. Stray Kids is set to release their new album “Karma”, and exclusive signed Hooray versions were sold through their webstore. These have been a hit with fans, with some reselling for up to five times what they retailed for before selling out. Let’s take a closer look at these records and what resellers are flipping them for.
First, let’s get familiar with the group behind the music. Stray Kids is an eight-piece Korean boy band that has recorded albums in both Korean and Japanese.
They have a somewhat eclectic and noticeably heavier sound compared to other boy bands, with significant inspiration from American trap and hip hop. Notably, the members are the primary producers and songwriters.
Their sixth album “Karma” is set for release later this month, following up the Japanese-language album “Hollow” released in June. To pick up some extra attention and revenue, Stray Kids released a signed version of the Wonder vinyl variant for “Karma” through their webstore.
These signed vinyl records shipped with a collector’s box that included a bonus photobook, cd, 1 of 8 collectable photocards, a photo postcard set, sticker, mini poster, and player ticket set. The members’ signatures were on a separate postcard.
Stray Kids’ signed “Karma” vinyl was sold for $28 exclusively through their webstore to US fans. They were limited to four vinyl records per customer.
That’s a pretty generous limit, and one that resellers were to quick to take advantage of. When these records went up for sale last week, we saw them sell out fast, with many of them ending up in the loving arms of a vinyl reseller.
Shortly after their release, Stray Kids’ signed “Karma” vinyl was reselling for up to $150. Things have cooled down a bit in the last week, but these records are still flipping for around $75. Even if you sold late, you still stood to nearly triple your money.
Early sellers were able to multiply their money by more than five times. Considering the four-per-customer limit and initial hype, some resellers were able to make more than $300 in profit from a single flip.
Not at all bad, and definitely worth considering for future drops from Stray Kids. These records are expected to ship later this month and a restock is pretty unlikely, but keep an eye out and don’t hesitate to jump on the opportunity if it arises.
