Resident Evil Requiem Watches Flip for Over $5,000

Hamilton’s gaming watch collabs have always been a mixed bag, which is exactly what made this one interesting as a calculated bet rather than a sure thing. The Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy watches dropped at $1,475 and $2,175 respectively, each limited to 2,000 units. We covered these ahead of the February 27 launch and flagged them as a higher-risk, higher-reward play.

The concern going in was Hamilton’s track record. Their Death Stranding collab from last year was a genuine winner, flipping for up to $3,000 on a $1,500 retail price. The Call of Duty watch was the opposite story — resellers were selling below retail, meaning anyone who bought to flip actually lost money after fees. You could argue that Death Stranding and Resident Evil Requiem are better games than Call of Duty, sure, but you could also point to CoD’s massive playercount.

Going into this, we were optimistic and hoping for secondary market sales at the $3,000 to $3,500 mark. It turns out that was a little cautious. Both watches have moved decisively above retail, and the Leon design in particular has taken on a life of its own.

The Leon S. Kennedy Khaki Field Auto Chrono is the standout. Secondary market prices are running from $5,000 to $6,000 on eBay — a 2.3x to 2.75x return on a $2,175 retail purchase. After eBay’s 13% cut, a $5,500 sale nets roughly $4,785, meaning a profit somewhere between $2,600 and $3,400 depending on where the listing clears. That is a serious return on a luxury item.

The Grace Ashcroft watch is sitting around $3,300 on the secondary market. After fees, that works out to roughly $870 in profit on a $1,475 retail investment — a 59% return. Solid by most standards, especially for a character who was an unknown quantity before the game released.

The dual-watch box set is the most interesting data point. One confirmed sale came in at $10,000 for the pair. Combined retail on both watches is $3,650, meaning the bundle attracted a premium on top of what the individual pieces were already commanding. Collectors who wanted the complete set with the original dual packaging were willing to pay for it. If you managed to secure the bundle configuration at launch, that was the best possible outcome, although finding a buyer may be difficult.

The Death Stranding watch was easy to write off as an outlier — Kojima games have a specific cult following, and that collab benefited from a lot of niche enthusiasm. The Resident Evil result confirms that Hamilton’s gaming collabs can work at scale when the franchise and the design both connect.

The Call of Duty watch remains the cautionary case. The difference there was not the franchise — CoD is one of the best-selling game series ever — but the design felt generic. The RE watches were built around specific characters with specific aesthetics. That specificity is what collectors pay for.

Going forward, the question with any Hamilton gaming collab is the same one: is this a character piece or a brand extension? Character pieces move. Brand extensions sit.
