Prismatic Evolutions Super Premium Collection released last week
It retailed from $90 to $110 and is reselling for ~$200
It could be a appreciate very well over the coming months
This year has been jam packed with Pokemon flips. It seems like any recently released Pokemon TCG product you can get your hands on is an easy double up or better. Last week, the highly anticipated Prismatic Evolutions Super Premium Collection finally had its retail release. It dropped at all major retailers like Pokemon Center, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Gamestop at slightly different price points, but showed great margins selling for over $200.
The Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection includes:
If we’re being honest, and maybe a bit greedy, $200 is about 20% less than we expected the first week price point to settle. Considering the price of ~$12 per pack, 15 packs in the box and the price of previous premium collections of in demand sets, we expected to see sales closer to $250 each.
There could be a number of reasons for this, and none of them imply a downshift in the Pokemon TCG market. A fair assumption is that botters hit this release really hard, and are simply unloading enough stock to recover their investment. It wouldn’t make much sense for the SPC to sell for less than this.
At any rate, the Prismatic Evolutions SPC is flying on eBay and local markets at $200+, and the price could be around $300 by the end of this year. In comparison, the Pokemon 151 Ultra Premium Collection also settled at about double MSRP upon initial release at the end of 2023, and is now selling for about triple.
While both are very desirable sets, the price list for Prismatic Evolutions cards blows the SV: 151 price list out of the Blooming Waters (Master Trainer joke).
The most expensive card in SV: 151 is the full art Charizard EX priced at ~$200. The most expensive card in Prismatic Evolutions is the full art Umbreon EX, nicknamed “Sunbreon”, priced at ~$1200. In fact, the top 10 cards in Prismatic are selling for as much or more than the most expensive card in SV: 151.
We’ve previously compared Prismatic Evolutions to one of the most valuable Pokemon TCG sets in recent memory, Evolving Skies. A bonafide grail card among modern day Pokemon TCG collectors, Evolving Skies’ “Moonbreon” is what “Sunbreon” was named after.
The alternate art secret rare Umbreon VMAX is one of the only other cards in the past few years to have appreciated to ~$1500 ungraded almost immediately after release. Here you can see the Prismatic Evolutions Umbreon EX on the left, and the Evolving Skies Umbreon Vmax on the right.
To put it simply, collectors and resellers can’t get enough of Prismatic Evolutions. If you want to make the best margins on this box, you should have no trouble finding local buyers for about ~$220. As always, take extra precautions when selling local, safety first.
We’ll leave you with some alpha for being loyal and attentive readers. We got word last week that some Best Buy stores are allowing in store orders for Prismatic Evolutions products. Some stores have denied this, but many members of RC Elite have been able to walk in and place orders at the register.
Here are all the relevant SKUs you should check in store, and resale numbers for each product. You’re welcome.
