Key Points

  • A new set of collectible lightsabers based on Asajj Ventress were just revealed

  • No price yet, but probably close to $400

  • Similar lightsabers have flipped for up to $1,000

If you’re planning a trip to Disney park any time soon, we’ve got something you’ll want to see. Premium collectible lightsabers based on the character Asajj Ventress will be hitting Galaxy’s Edge and online stores next month. Star Wars fans are notorious for spending money on fancy bits of plastic, and collectible lightsabers can be supremely profitable. We recommend checking out the gift shop next time you’re in the Mouse’s house, and you’ll also be able to buy these online.

Asajj Ventress Lightsaber Hilts

You might not recognize the name Asajj Ventress if you’re an old school Star Wars fan. She made her first appearance in Dave Filoni’s animated Clone Wars series during the mid 2000s, and would go on to be a fan favorite.

She’s a badass bald Sith that wields two lightsabers with distinctly curved hilts. As the show went on she had more abilities revealed, including linking the hilts together into a doublesaber.

And with the reemergence of Clone Wars characters like Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul in contemporary Star Wars media, fans have begun speculating if Ventress would be returning as well. Last month, it was confirmed that she would appear in the new season of “The Bad Batch”.

So what better time to start spinning up some premo merch related to the character? Over the weekend, Disney revealed that new collectible lightsabers based Asajj Ventress would be available for sale next month at Galaxy’s Edge and the Disney Store.

Asajj Ventress Lightsaber Galaxy Edge

This isn’t the first time Disney has sold these. Asajj Ventress Lightsaber Hilts were available several years ago, but have been discontinued for some time.

The new version (dubbed the “Disciple of the Sith” edition) have a few key differences. For one, they’re sold exclusively as set of two hilts that can be linked together to form a double edged blade. They also include a collectible wooden box, as well as an insert with a quote from Ventress and the set’s number.

Will Asajj Ventress Lightsaber Hilts Resell?

Since these were just announced, we don’t have a ton of details on them. In an interview with Cody Hampton, a senior manager of merchandising at Disney, he revealed that the numbered inserts were included “so fans know this is truly limited to the edition size.”

That’s an interesting quote. They want fans to believe the hilts are limited, but just how limited? And “edition size” is a particular choice of words. Will they be producing these in multiple batches, and they’ll be numbered within each batch?

We also don’t know the price. Other premium lightsaber hilts usually retail for somewhere between $350 to $450, so the Asajj Ventress hilts will probably fall somewhere in that line.

All that considered, we think these will be a very profitable flip. In 2022, premium hilts based on Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker were produced by Disney, and resellers were able to sell them for up to $1,000 at a time.

Ventress is one of the most identifiable villains from The Clone Wars. While she’s yet to appear in live action media, you could have said the same about Ahsoka in 2020; and now she has her own show.

Point being, Disney is creatively bankrupt when it comes to Star Wars. Digging up old characters is their preferred strategy lately, and as long as fans keep eating it up it’ll probably stay that way.

If Ventress gets a spot in an upcoming limited series or episode of Ahsoka, it could do wonderful things for the value of the saber. Even if that doesn’t happen, these will likely be very collectable pieces.

The only issue we can see with this set is overproduction. Since we don’t know the actual production numbers at this time, we’ll just have to hope Disney doesn’t churn out too many of them. As long as they are rare and in demand, expect them to flip.
