Poppy Playtime Scented Mini Critter Sets Resell for Up to $1,000

Last week, a very limited number of Poppy Playtime “Mini Smiling Critters” plush sets were sold through the game’s official webstore. While these were a pretty niche product, collectors and fans quickly devoured up the available stock, and all of the plushes sold out fast. After a few days, we’ve seen a few begin going up on eBay, and the prices are almost hard to believe. Resellers have stood to triple or quadruple their money at least, with some even flipping their plushes for ten times MSRP.

First, let’s do a little backstory. If you’ve never heard of it, “Poppy Playtime” is a video game-turned-franchise developed by Mob Entertainment. It fits in nicely with the recent trend of kids-themed, unsettling horror games like “Five Nights at Freddy’s” and “Baldi’s Basics”.

The game quickly blew up on social media and streaming services, and developed a considerable following dedicated to breaking down the game’s lore and story.

Since the release of Chapter 1 in 2021, Mob Entertainment has followed up with two more chapters, the most recent of which launched earlier this year. Along the way they have also spun up tons of merchandise, spin-offs, and a highly controversial NFT launch.

Which brings us to now. Last week, Mob Entertainment dropped a highly limited collection of scented plush dolls based on characters that appear in Poppy Playtime. While the company has released official plushes before, these were the first ones with embedded scents.

And it’s also worth noting just how limited the sets were. There were only 500 Poppy Playtime Scented plush sets available for sale, and they retailed for a pretty steep $80.

There were eight different plushes in the Poppy Playtime Scented Mini Critter set. They include:

• Bobby BearHug: Rose
• CraftyCorn: Jasmine
• PickyPiggy: Citrus
• Kickin Chicken: Ylang-Ylang
• Bubba Bubbaphant: Lemongrass
• CatNap: Lavender
• DogDay: Vanilla
• Hoppy Hoppyscotch: Peppermint

It’s also worth noting these were sold as preorders; customers can expect to receive their plushes later this year. With so few produced and so many fans desperate to get their hands on these new collectables, it should be no surprise that they sold out in under an hour.

Poppy Playtime Scented Plushes Resell

But what might be a little surprising is the prices we’ve been seeing for these plush sets on eBay. Within just a few days several of them were put up for sale online, and we’ve yet to see a sale under three digits.

Right now, Poppy Playtime Scented plush sets are reselling for upwards of $300, meaning sellers are walking away with $200 in profit, minimum. However, in the last few days we’ve started seeing sales of more than $800, with some sellers flipping theirs for nearly $1,000.

That’s incredible. This is a 10x flip opportunity that took less than five minutes of effort to capitalize on. You’d think that such a niche product wouldn’t be an easy flip, but clearly there are plenty of Poppy Playtime fans with cash to throw around.

Is it kids with their parents’ credit card? Flush collectors with a lot of money in the bank? Speculators betting long on Poppy Playtime as the next mega-IP? Who knows, all we can say is that these plushes are wildly profitable. That’s good enough for us.
