New PS5 Anniversary bundles are appearing in stores
Consoles and controllers are still flipping for $100 or more over retail
Restocks are frequent, but small
Add one more name to the nice list, because Sony has been stocking more of their sold-out 30th Anniversary PlayStation bundles ahead of the holidays. If you were flipping these back in September, you should recognize the opportunity before you. We don’t know how much more stock will be available or when the next drop will happen, but it’s worth paying attention to this flip for the next few days, especially if you’re looking for a little extra Christmas cash.
So what exactly are we talking about? If you’re not a gamer and you don’t regularly read our newsletter (don’t make us sad), you might have missed out on this drop.
Between all the other crazy stuff that happened this year, 2024 also marked the PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. To celebrate, Sony launched a huge collection of retro products for the PS5. These were meant to resemble the original PlayStation from 1994.
The highlight from the collection were the 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro bundles. These were limited to just 12,300 units, globally. Despite a $1,000 price tag, they all sold out and were flipping for over $3,000 in days.
Aside from the Pro bundles, Anniversary controllers, PlayStation Portals, and PS5 Digital bundles were also sold as part of the collection.
Altogether, this is one of the most popular console launches we’ve tracked in years, and resellers that managed to snag the most popular products were able to flip them for two to three times what they retailed for from PlayStation Direct.
Since their original release in September, we’ve seen these products restock a handful of times. These usually sell out quite fast, and stock is available through both PlayStation’s website and independent retailers.
December 3 marked the official 30th anniversary of the PlayStation’s launch in Japan, and we’ve seen a string of larger restocks to celebrate. Consoles and controllers have both been reappearing at retailers over the last few days.
The Anniversary PS5 Pro bundles have never restocked, and they likely never will. These consoles were strictly limited to 12,300 units, and each console was individually numbered. We can’t rule anything out, but these are probably not coming back again.
Don’t let that get you down. While the Pros might be off the market indefinitely, the rest of the collection can still be quite lucrative for a reseller.
Following the restocks, we’ve been seeing PS5 Digital Anniversary bundles flipping for about $650, around $150 over their retail price. These will likely remain in solid demand through the holidays.
And it’s not just the consoles that resell for a profit. PlayStation Anniversary DualShock and DualSense controllers are also flipping for anywhere from $50 to $100 over retail.
This is your last chance to pick up these products up at retail prices before Christmas. Whether you’ve got a gamer on your list or you just want to make some easy money, we strongly recommend jumping on this opportunity while it lasts.
You can buy straight from PlayStation Direct, or from major retailers like BestBuy and Walmart. From what we’ve seen from recent restocks, Sony is selling these in fairly small numbers. You’ll need to be quick to secure your order.
