Key Points

  • All four designs retailed for $35 at Target on November 30

  • Classic Diet Coke tumbler currently flipping for $65 to $85 on eBay

  • Target offers 90-day returns, reducing risk if the market softens

Owala dropped a Diet Coke collection exclusively through Target early this morning. Featuring four designs split across two products, each was released at $35. So far, the 24oz tumblers are making up most of the market, but there’s still an opportunity to get in on this even if the most popular designs are already sold out. Here’s what you need to know.

Diet Coke Owala Tumblers

In a special three-way collaboration for Black Friday, Owala worked with Coke and Target to produce a line of drinkware based on the iconic aspartame-infused beverage.

The collection featured four designs: two on Owala’s 24oz Stainless Steel Straw Tumbler and two on FreeSip Twist bottles. The Classic Diet Coke tumbler replicates the silver can design, while the Social Club version has an ivory background with “Diet Coke Social Club Atlanta, Georgia, EST 1982” text.

Both tumblers are carbonation-friendly, so you can actually fill them with Diet Coke without issues. The FreeSip designs include a pink “Diet Coke Kisses” version and a cream “Diet Coke Can’t Fix” option.

The drop happened November 30 and sold out within hours. Target had decent stock, but Diet Coke’s current popularity combined with Owala’s Gen Z following meant these moved fast.

As of this publication, the classic Diet Coke Owala tumbler is sold out everywhere, while there is limited stock remaining for the “Diet Coke Social Club” designs. The 24oz FreeSip designs are proving significantly less popular, and remain in stock at stores and online.

Unsuprisingly, the Classic Diet Coke tumbler is doing best on secondary markets, with eBay listings in the $65 to $85 range. After eBay’s 13% fee, you’re looking at $22 to $39 profit per tumbler. Not huge margins, but decent lunch money for minimal effort.

The Social Club design is moving slower but still seeing some activity. FreeSip bottles haven’t gained much traction yet, which makes sense since the tumbler style displays the branding more prominently.

The modest resale prices suggest most people bought these to actually use. Diet Coke has been having a moment with the “fridge cig” trend, and Owala fans collect their bottles like sneakerheads collect shoes. Resellers got some, but this wasn’t pure speculation.

Owala has built a reputation for limited drops that create FOMO. The brand releases exclusive colors through specific retailers, which has worked well for them. Some of their viral color drops have resold for over $100, though this Diet Coke collab isn’t hitting those numbers.

Target’s 90-day return policy is the safety net here. If prices drop or you can’t move them, you can return for a full refund. That probably encouraged more people to take a chance.

Bottom Line

Prices should hold steady through the holidays as these make decent gifts for Diet Coke fans. The Classic design will probably maintain its premium over other variations.

Target might restock. No official word, but retailers often do surprise restocks on exclusive collabs when they see demand. One restock announcement would drop resale values immediately.

This is a decent flip if you copped, but nothing to write home about. The $20 to $40 profit after fees is fine for a quick turnaround, especially with Target’s return policy as backup.

If you missed the drop, setting alerts for restocks might be worth it if you’re already sourcing at Target regularly. The FreeSip bottles are still sitting in stock, and they might be worth taking a gamble on if you don’t mind tying up capital.

Otherwise, stay tuned for restocks and don’t hesitate to buy the classic Diet Coke Owala tumblers. As always, make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter if you want those updates sent directly to you.
