Hot Wheels Collabs with Daniel Arsham on a Porsche 911

You probably know Hot Wheels, but are you familiar with Daniel Arsham? He’s an artist that’s gotten a lot of attention for his unique sculptures of cars, depicting classic rides like the “Back to the Future” DeLorean in derelict states.

Some commenters have described his work like finds from archaeological digs in the distant future. Hot Wheels first collaborated with Arsham last December on the Hot Wheels Legends Archive. This bundle featured eight of the most iconic Hot Wheels designs rendered in Arsham’s unique style.

Now they’ve come back to work with Arsham just under a year later. This time they’ve reproduced Arsham’s own 1973 Porsche 911 RSA in perfect 1:64 detail. Rendered in canary yellow with baby-blue detailing, this is an eye-catcher at any scale.

Arsham’s Porsche 911 RSA is available right now through the Mattel Creations website. These dropped yesterday for $75. Unlike other coveted releases, a Red Line Club membership is not required to purchase one. Customers are limited to two cars.

The car also ships with unique yellow packaging and a display case. Hot Wheels’ and Arsham’s branding is included prominently throughout.

Good question. These have been in stock for over 24 hours now and haven’t sold out, which isn’t a great sign when you’re looking for the hottest items to resell. Still, we’re not counting this one out yet.

Arsham’s original collaboration with Hot Wheels proved to be a sleeper hit. Those eight-car bundles were priced at a whopping $690, but resellers were able to turn solid profits by flipping the individual cars for up to $200 at a time.

Obviously this Porsche is a different scenario. Rather than reproducing Arsham’s iconic sculptures, Hot Wheels has worked to create a lifelike model of one of Arsham’s own cars. If you’re a fan of his work and like his build, this is probably something cool to own, but it lacks the uniqueness of the prior collab.

The slow sell time speaks for itself. Most resellers will probably take a pass on this, but it’s worth noting these cars are eligible for Mattel Creations’ standard thirty day return policy. This should be a relatively risk-free flip worth keeping on your radar if you don’t have anything else going on.
