A limited edition Ghouluxe collectors doll of Monster High character Ghoulia Yelps. Created by Mattel Creations exclusively for Fang Club members.
In March of 2023, an exclusive release for Fang Club members hit Mattel’s webstore. The Ghouluxe Ghoulia Yelps was only available for members paying the $10 yearly subscription and sold quickly. The doll was widely praised by Monster High fans, and within a week of its sale began to resell. Since then, eBay has recorded numerous aftermarket sales for the Ghouluxe Ghoulia Yelps dolls for significantly more than they retailed.
Like most Monster High characters, Ghoulia Yelps has been rereleased several times in various configurations. March 2023 saw the release of the “Ghouluxe” version of Ghoulia Yelps. As a premium doll, the Ghouluxe Ghoulia Yelps doll includes highly detailed and character-specific clothes and makeup.
What set this doll apart from other Monster High creations was the release method. The Ghouluxe Ghoulia Yelps doll was only available to Fang Club subscribers, and was sold only through Mattel’s website.
Fang Club members were able to buy the Ghouluxe Ghoulia Yelps dolls on March 24, 2023, for $50. They were limited to two per order. It’s unknown what the total stock of these dolls was, but it took under an hour for them all to sell out. This was clearly a win for Fang Club members.
For serious Monster High fans and collectors, joining Mattel’s Fang Club is a tempting idea. The $10 yearly subscription gives members the opportunity to purchase members-only dolls, like the Ghouluxe Ghoulia Yelps doll.
Additionally, Fang Club members also have access to early sales for select products, as well as occasional discounts. While some Monster High fans dislike the subscription fee, it can be a major boon during major releases.
After selling out, the Ghouluxe Ghoulia Yelps dolls began to resell on eBay. The exclusive release was definitely a boon to resellers. Mattel gave plenty of heads up for the release of the dolls, and experienced resellers know that Monster High dolls can resell for a significant premium. Signing up for Fang Club was a minor inconvenience that could translate into major profit.
Since March 24, eBay has recorded around 200 sales of the Ghouluxe Ghoulia Yelps dolls. Most tend to resell for around $100, with some sales at or above $120 immediately after the release. This is a pretty remarkable percentage of dolls earmarked for reselling, and the continued aftermarket success is a testament to the fanbase. People really want these dolls.
Of course, if you read our article on the Monster High Skullector Elvira release, you’d already know that. Monster High fans love these dolls, and they really love paying resellers for them. At least, that’s what it seems like, considering the sales volume for recent releases on eBay.
