Key Points

  • Power Pack Series 3 retails for $70 and releases tomorrow in GameStop stores nationwide

  • Each pack contains one PSA 8+ graded card and two random booster packs from sets like Journey Together, Surging Sparks, and Stellar Crown

  • Series 2 packs consistently resold for $90 to $120 on eBay shortly after launch, with rare slabs flipping for hundreds

GameStop is releasing Power Pack Series 3 in stores tomorrow, and based on how Series 2 performed, you’ll want to get there early. These packs include one PSA-graded card (guaranteed PSA 8 or higher) plus two random Pokemon TCG booster packs from popular sets, all for $70. Series 2 sold out at most locations within hours, with packs containing popular slabs flipping for nearly five times the pack’s price.

GameStop Power Packs Explained

The concept is straightforward but effective: you’re getting a mystery PSA-graded card that’s already been professionally authenticated and slabbed, plus two sealed booster packs as a bonus. The graded card alone comes with a $22 minimum trade-in guarantee at GameStop through specific dates.

Series 2 launched in July and included cards from sets like 151, Journey Together, Surging Sparks, and Stellar Crown. The random nature means you could pull anything from a common Pokemon worth $25 graded to something significantly more valuable. That’s part of the appeal for collectors who enjoy the mystery box aspect, and it’s also why resellers have been able to flip these consistently.

Series 3 is dropping tomorrow exclusively through GameStop’s brick-and-mortar locations. These feature a 2024 Mew ex as the flagship card, with other popular picks in the mix. The price remains set at $70, with a hard limit of one per customer. Get there early and bring friends.

For collectors who want graded cards but don’t want to deal with submission services, Power Packs offer instant gratification. For resellers, the secondary market has proven willing to pay well over the sticker price for a sealed pack.

Series 3 includes a trade-in guarantee where each PSA 8+ card can be traded back to GameStop for at least $22 store credit through October 25, which provides a safety net for buyers worried about getting a low-value card.

While Series 2 had a fairly generous distribution, collectors noted that many stores had not received a Series 3 allocation even as late as this Wednesday. We’re expecting stock to be squeezed pretty hard this time around.

How to Buy GameStop Power Packs

Call your local GameStop stores this morning before heading out. Ask specifically about Power Pack Series 3 and whether they received an allocation. Many locations won’t have these, so calling first saves you a wasted trip.

If your store confirms they have units, get there when they open. Series 2 sold out within the first few hours at most locations, and Series 3 will likely follow the same pattern.

Based on Series 2 performance, sealed Power Pack Series 3 units should sell for solid profits shortly after launch. Sealed packs routinely flipped for upwards of $120 shortly after launch, and the squeezed production on Series 3 packs might mean an even juicier market.

Of course, the real money is in the slabbed cards. If you like to gamble, ripping a pack could net hundreds of dollars in profits if you get something special.

If you snag a slabbed 2024 Mew ex card with a PSA 10 stamp, you’re looking at up to $2,000 in profit. That’s an extreme example, sure, but that’s why these packs are so much fun.

The Power Pack format hits a sweet spot between affordability and the excitement of mystery boxes. The guaranteed PSA 8+ grade eliminates the risk of getting a poorly graded card, which is a common concern with random graded products.

For resellers, limited availability creates urgency. When stores only get a few units and sell out fast, buyers on eBay don’t have the option to just walk into GameStop and buy one themselves. That’s when they’re willing to pay above retail.

Call ahead, move fast if your store confirms stock, and list quickly if you’re flipping. Series 2 showed there’s consistent demand for these at markup, and Series 3 should follow the same pattern.
