Drake X McDonald's OVO Collaboration Launches February 17

Drake might be about to join one of fast food’s most profitable celebrity lineups. Promotional posters featuring October’s Very Own’s iconic owl logo alongside McDonald’s golden arches have been popping up around Toronto, and the internet is doing exactly what you’d expect. Fans are calling it the “Certified Lover Meal,” Reddit users claim there will be black-and-gold OVO cups and a new purple Sprite called “Nite Sprite,” and reseller group chats are already running the numbers on potential merch flips. Nothing is officially confirmed by either side, but the hype machine is running.

The posters were first shared on X by Toronto-based account Kurrco and feature a clean black-and-gold design with OVO and McDonald’s branding alongside the tagline “Where Night Owls Land,” a nod to Drake’s nocturnal brand identity. The most popular theory is that Drake is getting his own “Famous Orders” celebrity meal, which would put him alongside Travis Scott, Cardi B and Offset, Saweetie, BTS, and Mariah Carey in McDonald’s collab history.

Reddit users are circulating an unverified photo of what appears to be an OVO x McDonald’s hoodie, allegedly intended for staff. Others claim insider knowledge of custom branded cups and exclusive drinks. OVO has previously partnered with Red Bull Racing, the NHL, Jordan Brand, and Canada Goose, but a McDonald’s tie-up would be the most mainstream collab the brand has ever done.

McDonald’s celebrity collabs have a strong track record on the secondary market. Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack x McDonald’s partnership is the gold standard. That 2020 collab spawned a merch line that had resellers crashing websites, and the vintage brown tee from that collection still sells for $150 to $300 on eBay and StockX over five years later. Even the 2024 Collector’s Cups were reselling for $20 to $100 within days, and BTS meal packaging (literal paper bags and sauce packets) was going for $50 to $200.

If OVO follows the Travis Scott playbook with branded apparel alongside the meal, the profit potential could be real. OVO retail prices typically run $80 to $150 for tees and $150 to $300 for hoodies. A McDonald’s collab with limited availability could flip for well above retail, especially if the launch starts as a Toronto or Canada exclusive before going wider.

Custom cups and packaging would be quick, low-risk flips too. They cost next to nothing extra (you’re buying a meal anyway) and have historically sold for $15 to $50 on eBay when tied to major celebrity collabs.

There is a major caveat here. It seems like the McDonald’s X OVO collaboration is only launching in Canada, possibly only Toronto, at least at first. The promotion may roll out to select US markets if it proves successful, or it may remain a Canada-exclusive.

Drake x McDonald’s has all the ingredients for a solid resell opportunity, but we’re still waiting on official details. February 17 is less than a week out. Be ready to move fast if merch goes live.
