It’s almost time for the latest Kojima game. Death Stranding 2 will be launching for the PS5 very soon, and Collector’s Editions are available for sale. Not only that, but eager gamers have jumped the shark and started buying from resellers even before these editions have sold out. We’ve seen this happen with other hyped games, and it’s a good sign for anyone looking to make a buck from this release. Let’s get started.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Collector's Editions

Are you ready, gamer? Norman Reedus and his funky fetus will be returning to small screens across the world in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach this June. New characters and the familiarly unfathomable worldbuilding of Hideo Kojima have gamers excited for launch day.

And even though it’s a weird triple-A game, it’s still a triple-A game, which means we’ll be getting a collector’s edition. Serious fans have the opportunity to chow down on a host of premium in-game and physical content.

Death Stranding 2 Collector’s Editions include a 15″ Magellen figurine and Dollman keychain, art cards depicting characters from the game, a collector’s display box, and letter from Hideo Kojima himself (contents undisclosed).

Notice we said “sell out soon” and not “have already sold out.” Publishers will open preorders for video game collector’s editions months ahead of release, and it’s common to see them remain in stock all the way up to the release date.

What’s not common is for a collector’s edition to resell while it’s still in stock, but that’s exactly what’s happening here. Death Stranding 2 Collector’s Editions are already reselling for more than $350 on eBay, despite being available for sale directly through PlayStation Direct for $100 less.

Why? Who knows. Gamers can be a little silly sometimes, and are not exactly known for being smart spenders. We have seen this happen before, namely with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Collector’s Editions that flipped for a profits months ahead of their launch.

If you’re thinking of flipping one of these editions, make sure you check the terms for preorders on PlayStation Direct. You won’t be charged for the item until it’s ready to ship, with Sony advising that that will usually be 10-12 days before the actual release date.

For these DS2 Collector’s Editions, you can expect to be charged some time in June. A temporary hold will be put on your card, but you can list the game for sale on eBay and make your profits right now. Up to you, but the risks are minimal and rewards decent.
