Deluxe Editions of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga came with special minifigs
The Blue Milk Luke minifig was exclusive to these games, and not sold elsewhere
After release, Blue Milk Luke could flip for $100 or more
Included with deluxe editions of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga were exclusive “Blue Milk Luke” minifigures. These minifigs featured a unique head with a blue milk mustache, and quickly caught on in popularity. Because they are only available with a deluxe copy of the game, they began to resell on the aftermarket. At one point, they were so popular that their resell price began to exceed the retail value of the game.
It’s been a while, but you might remember the stir created after Episode 7 featured Luke Skywalker drinking fresh milk from the teat of some alien creature. Blue Milk Luke and his resultant milk mustache were popular memes following the release of the movie.
The joke was revived in 2022 for the release of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game. Buyers who splurged on the deluxe edition of the game were treated with a unique product: a Blue Milk Luke minifigure. This was a bit of a surprise on Lego’s part, as this minifig had never been seen before.
This got picked up on Twitter, as people began loudly discussing the new minifig. In a world where new video game launches are frequently dogpiled as underdeveloped and scarce on content, the idea of getting a small toy was… Inspiring? Exciting? Who knows. People liked the Blue Milk Luke minifig, enough so that sales of the deluxe edition of The Skywalker Saga took off, and people began reselling the minifigs.
If you didn’t know, there’s actually a considerable aftermarket for Lego minifigures. The brand has been producing minifigs for more than 40 years, so it’s not surprising a hobby has built up around collecting them.
There are all kinds of rare minifigs, from early designs to limited crossovers, and many of them resell for remarkable prices. The Blue Milk Luke minifig joined this club following the release of The Skywalker Saga because of its exclusive nature. Remember, these have never and will never be produced again; they were only available with deluxe copies of Lego Star Wars.
Because of their rarity and popularity, Blue Milk Luke minifigs started reselling on eBay. For how much though? Early on they went for around $50 to $60, nearly the price of the deluxe copies of the game.
At one point, the Blue Milk Luke minifigs sold for as much as $100. If you had bought the deluxe version of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and weren’t attached to your minifig, congratulations! Your little piece of plastic essentially bought the game for you, and put you halfway towards the next one.
Nothing lasts forever though, and fans eventually decided Blue Milk Luke wasn’t worth the cost. Prices have since dipped, although the minifig does still resell.
The average price for a Blue Milk Luke minifig in 2023 is around $30. There are some sales for a little more or less, but most tend to hover around that number. Still a great opportunity for anyone who picked up a deluxe copy of The Skywalker Saga at retail.
