Spooky season is officially here, which means brands are dressing up everyday products in Halloween costumes. First up this year is Hidden Valley, which dyed its ranch pitch black and shipped it in glow-in-the-dark plastic. Each bottle costs about the same as a fun-size bag of candy, and resellers are already flipping them for several times that. This won’t change anyone’s life, but stack enough bottles from one Walmart run and you’ve got your candy and costume budget covered.

Hidden Valley's New Halloween Ranch

Hidden Valley Spooky Ranch is the brand’s classic Original Ranch with one big change: it’s black. Hidden Valley says the color comes from fruit juice and cocoa, with no artificial flavors, so it should taste like the ranch you already know. It’s gluten-free, comes in a 12 oz bottle, and the bottle itself glows in the dark.

It’s also Hidden Valley’s first-ever seasonal product. It launched September 24 as a Walmart exclusive with a suggested retail price of $3.97, and it’s on shelves now. Hidden Valley is marketing it as a Halloween topping for pizza, wings, and snack boards, so expect steady demand from people throwing parties over the next four weeks, plus online buyers who don’t have a Walmart nearby.

Hidden Valley Spooky Ranch Resells

Resellers have already started flipping bottles of Hidden Valley’s Spooky Ranch. Current prices range from around $10 to up to $20 on eBay, which isn’t too bad considering you can pick these up for $4 at Walmart.

The real play is volume. Grab a dozen bottles, sell them in the middle of that range, and you’re looking at $100 or more in profit. Bundling two or three bottles per listing spreads out shipping costs, and bagging each bottle before boxing it saves you from a leaky return.

Returns are a gray area. Walmart’s standard policy gives 90 days on most items, but some shoppers report stores only accepting food returns within seven days, receipt required. Don’t buy more than you can sell before November 1, when demand falls off a cliff and leftovers go in your fridge.

Spooky Ranch is a low-risk, low-ceiling flip. Buy what you can move in the next few weeks, list fast, and use the money to buy candy or your next costume.
